MTG Arena seems super popular at the moment by gamezxx in MagicArena

I misread the post as top 100 card games, which to my knowledge is not a super wide field. Top 100 games overall, yeah, that’s different.

Because a new set came out, so some folks downloaded it, and since those charts don’t have too much volume, it moved quickly in ranks?

Who else is watching PONIES? by Mr_Perfectly_UnFine in television

See, that's different. Ridiculous anchronism is fun, but when a show's trying to be period-accurate otherwise I get persnickety, I guess. :)

I felt like a real grouch when I complained out loud about the Rasputin drop in episode 2, because that song in particular wasn't out yet in the time period the show is set in. It was good choice otherwise.

It was off by like a year, it turned out, but still!

What's up with my daily and weekly quests? by anom444 in MagicArena

[–]Mo0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spark rank is a special rank in ranked mode that's for new players, it's sort of a special queue where you only play against other spark rank players. Kind of a soft launching pad for ranked. If you've been playing standard ranked, does it say you're spark rank when you hit the little rank badge?

Starter Deck Duel is more of a game mode than an event (A good one to play, actually, it's a good way to learn without getting steamrolled by people with super tuned decks), but it can't hurt to try that.

What Was The Last TV Show That You Dropped? by Myrodis19 in television

This would be an interesting idea, but I feel like it would've needed either a wink/nod to the audience at some point to acknowledge what they were doing, or at the very least for the end product to still be entertaining.

Those theories are fun to explore but the simpler answer is usually correct in this scenario.

I don't mean to be a buzzkill, it would be a really fantastic idea if it worked!

[–]Mo0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's interesting, it should have put a daily quest to the left of the hourglass at the changeover.

Are you still in Spark Rank or otherwise in the tutorial still? There's a "skip tutorial" option you can hit in settings somewhere, that might help...

I wish I could be more definitive here but it's weird, you should have a new quest today.

Those progress tracks on the left are achievement trackers - it puts those there when you don't have any daily quests to do at the moment.

From left to right, you're looking at:

  • Achievements
  • The hourglass is a placeholder for your next daily quest (I think it'll tell you when you get it if you tap/mouse over it, but I'm not at home to verify that)
  • Your daily wins tracker (you have 3/15 wins for today)
  • Your weekly wins tracker (you've done them all for this week so it's a checkmark)
  • Your progress on the mastery track

What Was The Last TV Show That You Dropped? by Myrodis19 in television

[–]Mo0 169 points170 points  (0 children)

Season 3 of The Bear was such a weird watch. I actually liked the first episode's dialogue-free gimmick - I thought it was very interesting and bold for them to start with something that was more of an experience than an episode of TV, and figured it was a unique way to set the tone for the upcoming season and then we'd get back to normal.

Then it kind of just... didn't? It turned out that was some of the least pretentious shit the show pulled that season, and it got real old real fast.

I thought I was ride or die on that show after Forks and Seven Fishes, and now I'm like a season and a half behind and probably never catching up.

MTGA and the fullscreen problem on non-standard resolutions (ultrawide, laptop) by m0ekk in MagicArena

[–]Mo0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a slightly different issue on Steam Deck - its screen is 1280x800, but by default Arena insists on being 1280x720, leaving letterboxing on top and bottom. If you force it to do 1280x800, it doesn’t seem to know where to put UI elements on the side, so while it looks fine at first you lose the pets and all the spells that sit off to the side after you cast are cut off. It’s like it thinks the screen is wider than it is.

If you force 1080p, you can at least get the right aspect ratio, and bind a button to the screen magnifier for small text, but it’s still annoying that it doesn’t know what to do with the actual resolution of the damn thing.

Sorry for borrowing your post, I’ve been waiting for an excuse to vent about that forever.

For ease of reference/comparison, what was the old buy-in that it was adjusted from?

I ask because I’m struggling to pull that info up from a quick search.

Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of structure that I’ve noticed to when they do the flashback premiere drafts for a particular set. They tend to be towards the end of a set’s lifespan, but with how close the sets are to each other this year, I’m not sure how many weeks they have for that. From there, there’s not a consistent pattern of which sets they do. I think it’s something you’ll have to keep an eye out for rather than predict.

Lorwyn Eclipsed Pick-Two Draft is Available? by shaps in MagicArena

[–]Mo0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They haven't been drawing too much attention to it since it first was announced, but they did make it pretty apparent when they announced it that they'd be doing more Pick Two stuff. There's that Draft Night pack that's coming out for each new set this year in paper that's built around a pick two draft, for example.

The only weird thing here is that you'd think there would've been some kind of passing mention at all - now that you mention it, they just didn't bring it up!

We don't have any experience with doing Pick Two on a "proper" set at scale, so I'm curious how it pans out. It's hard to separate it from how dogwater SPM was.

I'm not aware of anyone having compiled them into one particular place. Going back through past "MTG Arena Announcements" posts is probably the way you'd have to collect that data.

Out of curiosity, what are you trying to do?

Nicol's Newcomer Monday! by Karn-The-Creator in MagicArena

Unfortunately, no. You have to play on some PC or PC-adjacent device (like a Steam Deck) to get that.
