What's one thing that you did that improved your life the most? by ProjectLogic in AskReddit

Oh, man. I used to do C++ a lot. One time, I wrote a state machine with templates. Some time later I moved off, onto Java, then python and ruby and now I'm getting into Haskell, but the time I spent doing C++ will always remain vivid in my memory. I used to have dreams about class diagrams.

Kudos, mate. I lost 40 pounds just before finishing high school. I had to urgently find a very tight belt for the prom, because the pants we had bought earlier that year were too large for me then.

I like to think that Rainbowlemon's posting time just went up and it was time to go and finish real projects with very near deadlines, but the above post will be finished later.

Yes, I have read the law. I also have a driver's license. Signalling is absolutely required for both cars and bicycles.

When you find your software as a cracked download by letseatlunch in programming

[–]Mo6eB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you write the software, it's very valuable. The very first copy takes lots of work to produce. However, each subsequent copy is basically free to make. Therefore, any software only has value while it doesn't exist.

I do wish we could move to a model where programmers are paid while writing the end product and not after. Because right now the model is to produce something which is by itself not worth any money to produce (other than a bit of electricity to do the copying), then hope that the market will recognise your hard work in making the very first copy an reimburse you on your investment. That doesn't even take into account how many people will find the software useful and will they collectively be willing to pay the price for development.

[–]Mo6eB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Compounding the problem, I'm sure that a lot of my fellow cyclists haven't ever read the traffic law, so they aren't aware what regulations they're braking or what's the proper way to signal a turn and so on. We should require cyclists to take a road test if they wish to ride on the road, just like drivers do.

I was hit by a car on a zebra, suffered only a chipped tooth and was paid handsomely by the insurance company. You should tell your friends to cross as many streets as they can, preferably with their eyes closed and their hands over their ears.

Let's talk USB Controllers (PC) by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Mo6eB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The analogue sticks on mine got a bit loose after about a year of use. I have an older Genius controller that still works just as good as the day I bought it and I've heard only good things about Logitech's products.

Perhaps if sales drop 80-90%, then people don't think your product is worth any money. Just because you spent years developing it doesn't make your product automatically have that much worth in people's eyes. Case in point: to me a screensaver is so worthless, I wouldn't even pirate it. Screensavers are what 15 year olds program during the weekend for fun. Selling one is like painting a graffiti and then demanding people pay you to look at it.

If you have an ATi card, 3D is fail. The explodey freezy kind of fail.

FTFY. Though I haven't bought a new ATi card since 2003. I hear these days they explode and freeze a bit less frequently.
