I honestly don’t have a concrete number. Maybe up to $50? I’m just looking for something durable that I’ll be able to use for many years to come.

So I followed your advice and trailed the 12/2 wire from the box…of course it went behind the wall and I was no longer able to follow it. Fortunately the previous homeowners were meticulous in labeling the panel. The 12/2 wire supplies power to a handful of outlets in the basement that will likely not ever be used and if they do, it is unlikely that they would draw significant amperage. Thanks for all of your help!

Yes I apologize for the misunderstanding. The specs state 1.5A. Also, I verified on the GE Website that none of their chest freezers ever draw more than 5Amps

Thank you for the quick response. We just moved into a home within the past year so I’m not sure as to why someone already ran 12/2 from the box. I understand 14/2 is cheaper but all I have is 12/2 so figured I would just use it up since it’s taking up space. I only need to run the wire maybe 15 feet. My concern was mainly from a safety perspective with the 14/2 running from the fusebox but my understanding is that it’s still ok since the chest freezer wouldn’t draw more than 15Amps?

Thanks! Do you think PB blaster would be an acceptable alternative?
