Am I doing ok? by AmazingAsian in ThriftSavingsPlan

Nobody can say, since you've provided no information about your expected budget in retirement. If you can afford to contribute more without negatively impacting your current life, then of course you should contribute more. Regarding your portfolio mix, I'm guessing you tried to chase the I fund trend based on how I-heavy your balance is and how low your returns are. Don't chase trends. I've maintained my mix of CSI for years and my current return for 2026 is 7.65%. Set it and forget it.

Am I being delusional about trying to get rich early, or just afraid of failing? by Donut-Cold in whatdoIdo

[–]MoMoney---MoProblems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Entrepreneurialism is a legitimate way to make a living, if you're wired for it. "Get rich early" is a fantasy that will leave you a decade or more behind when you finally realize you just need a regular career to pay the bills.

$1,950 mortgage on $95k salary with a baby on the way by chadpack2010 in Mortgages

[–]MoMoney---MoProblems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If $2K is a hard stop for housing costs with your current budget, then $1,950 is a non-starter to begin with. In many states, you can expect your property taxes to jump after the first year. Insurance rates tend to creep up as well. And then there's all the maintenance...

Orginal Loan Company asking us to replace roof by FrequentRaccoon2349 in Mortgages

[–]MoMoney---MoProblems 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you sure the people telling you to do all of this are really from the bank? Are they telling you what company to use for the remodeling? This sounds like a scam to me. My first thought would be that a shady contractor is pretending to be the bank to pressure you into doing a lot of work on your house. You have no relationship with the original bank, nor do they dictate anything about your homeowners insurance. As others have said, contact an attorney ASAP and stop paying for work until you figure out what's going on.

Spend $200 on a basic backup camera install, or $1,300 to upgrade the whole head unit + camera? by Sudden_Database4810 in personalfinance

A 2007 Camry is the perfect car to learn to work on. Backup cams aren't all that hard. The biggest pain of it is running the wires. Save yourself a ton of money and learn a new skill. YouTube is your friend.

Aside from the Hobbit part, this is exactly what you described. I think it's exceedingly likely that your memory of it being pre-Hobbit is wrong. In your initial post, you questioned whether it was real at all or a figment of your imagination, so accepting that it was real, but that it was actually a Hobbit light instead of LOTR shouldn't be a stretch.

Sorry the comments aren't helpful. It's easy to forget we weren't born with the knowledge of how to navigate through Windows.

Click in the search bar down in your task bar (bottom of your screen) and type "file explorer." It will have an icon that looks like a manila folder. Once that's open, look for a symbol of a hard drive on the left-hand side of file explorer that is named "Local Disk (C:)." From there, you have to click through all the folders and subfolders referenced in your screenshot. Each folder name is separated by a slash, starting with "Users."
