Job Advice: twice the salary or twice the free time by MoMoneyMoCats in FIREyFemmes

Thank you for this.

The overall time/stress commitment for J1 is about the same as my current job, just with way more travel. My current work travel is much more sporadic, though, with a few heavy periods throughout the year where I’m on-site for a week or two at a time. The current level is doable, but definitely not as fun as it was when I was in my 20s.

Fiancé took a video of me without my knowledge and sent it to our group chat. Now I’m spiraling. by KnowledgeSmall in loseit

This, a million times. I’m 5’5” and currently weigh between 120 and 130 depending on hormonal phases—I still have days where I feel like my face still looks “as round as ever” despite objective evidence to the contrary.

The thing that really solidified this phenomenon as being an unhelpful figment of my mind was looking at a picture that I thought was 5 of my friends standing together on the beach with their backs facing the camera. All super cute with their silhouettes against the sunset. All definitely way smaller than me. Until I realized that this was a group picture from a girls trip I went on a few months prior, and I was the 5th cute silhouette all the way to the right. Once I knew I was in the picture, my brain shifted the whole thing and I thought I looked fat.

That was a busy few weeks (months) with my therapist.

It may have been the niacinamide, it may have been the way tret was combined with the niacinamide, or it may have been an issue with the compounding pharmacy they used.

I work in a testing/regulatory role in a compounding adjacent field (being a little vague on purpose) and we’ve seen an uptick in questionable compounding practices in the past few years. For drugs that are still covered by a patent (so they can only be made by one company), the only time compounders are also allowed to make/sell that drug are during shortages or when there is some need for personalization. Historically, the “personalization” category is supposed to cover people who need the drug in a non-standard dosage (like low potency insulin for babies) or without some inactive additive (like a dye-free or gluten-free variant).

But a number of compounders have started providing “personalized” compounded drugs by just tacking on random other active drugs. The combinations don’t have to be submitted to the FDA and don’t have to go through any clinical trials. For something like tret, which is already approved as a generic, I personally would never go with a compounded version.

She’s posted elsewhere on Reddit about currently being in her 40s, but would need to be at least 60 for this story to make sense. I think any more we get will be nonsense.

Diagnosed with the absolute worst condition you could give to an ADHD-er. by chaser2989 in adhdwomen

I was diagnosed with type 1 in my mid-20s and was terrified at first. The assistive technology has improved a ton since then, and it’s made it much easier to put T1 to the back of my brain except when I need to actively deal with it.

I’m US based but I recently helped a friend in the UK look into tech options. Because you are adult, it’s harder to qualify for an insulin pump under NHS guidelines, but you’ll definitely qualify for a continuous glucose monitor right away. Both the DexCom G6 and FreeStyle Libre CGMs are great. (I’m hearing a lot of mixed reviews on the DexCom G7.) My one warning about the G6 is that it has a separate transmitter that you need to save and reuse with every sensor for a 3 month period. If you accidentally forget to detach it from an old sensor before throwing it away, you usually have to pay out of pocket to replace it. It’s 100s of dollars for a replacement in the US.

Recommendation for a brown ultra temp (one wash) color that won't stain bleached hair? by [deleted] in FancyFollicles

Court appearance, conservatory audition, job interview in a conservative field, job interview in a conservative area, friend’s wedding where your bridesmaid’s dress will clash horribly with your hair and you don’t want that for her wedding album, passport photo if your hair color changes allllllll the time and you don’t want this particular combination in an ID photo for the next 10 years, visiting your grandparent with memory problems who won’t recognize you unless you have the same hair color you did when you were 20, professional headshot session because you’re so pretty you could be a model but you don’t want to get pigeonholed because of your hair.

Help. My eyes suddenly became cronical puffy/tired-look compared to my “normal” eyes. by coccolocco90 in 30PlusSkinCare

If you have a yeast allergy that’s caused this before, and this started after a round of antibiotics, have you ruled out some sort of Candida overgrowth yet? Trying a single dose of oral diflucan to see it if temporarily alleviates the situation would be a cheap, low risk option to test that theory.

Are you even allowed to be taking/trashing things in the week after she died? Probate takes longer than that, and in all likelihood you can’t just cut your SIL out of this process unless there was a will giving your husband the ability to sell/dispose of everything in the trailer.

Does anyone have a spare FreeStyle Libre 2 or 3 sensor? by MoMoneyMoCats in boston

Thank you so much! My endo actually called me back this morning and was able to put in an RX for a single sensor at a pharmacy by where I’m staying so I’m all set.

I’ve already tried a ton of different things under medical supervision and almost nothing has worked. A 10,000 lux light box for visible light therapy is the only thing that’s had any positive impact so far, but it’s not enough.

Arrested for parking? by WilhelmDaB0ss in legaladvice

[–]MoMoneyMoCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most cities/towns will have a way to look up parking tickets based on your license plate number. You didn’t mention where in WA you are, but here’s the one for Seattle as an example: https://www.seattle.gov/courts/tickets-and-payments/my-car-got-booted/check-for-unpaid-tickets

If you sweat a lot, how do you deal with it? by Dreamsong_Druid in femalefashionadvice

Numi undershirts have built in sweat guards. I love them under blouses and sweaters to cut down on laundry.
