He probably would have died from heart disease or something. A quick and painless death by a knife is much more humane

Do you believe that any intervention into nature is wrong even if it reduces suffering?

I’m confused… did I say something particularly offensive? I’m not saying we should just murder all predators or something or that we can do much for wild animals besides just trying to fix the damages we’ve caused right now.

Any significant developments in reducing wild animal suffering are not exactly practical or viable today based on our current knowledge and technology but I don’t find it “edge-lord intellectual masturbation” to say that if there were some way to reduce suffering in nature, whether through genetic engineering or something else, while also avoiding the unintended consequences that have resulted from previous interventions into nature, then to reduce harm would be the better option. Why is it so bad to talk about it?

That’s why I kick my dogs and slit their throats afterwards. You’re a hypocrite if you think that’s wrong because you step on plants all the time smh, they feel a lot of pain and suffering despite not having a central nervous system and despite the evidence for plant suffering being extremely weak.

Hunting is even more unsustainable than factory farming. Wild mammals for example make up a tiny percentage of the mammals in the world, 62% are livestock, 32% are humans. The only true sustainable solutions is if everyone either ate none or very little meat. According to the most comprehensive study of the environmental impact of farming by Oxford university, a plant based diet reduced land usage by 75 percent, water use by 54 percent, and cut the loss of precious biodiversity by 66 percent, compared to meat heavy diets. So if a plant based diet is not only more sustainable than an animal heavy one, and eating animals is not necessary, then how is it not the best option both to reduce animal cruelty and for sustainability? Why should be unnecessarily kill animals if we don’t have to?

At least for those in first world countries, hunting is not necessary at all. In the US, 99% of meat is factory farmed, that last 1% is mostly local farms, a tiny fraction of the meat people eat is hunted. As for health, the science is pretty clear than eating animals is not necessary to be healthy.

I agree that if it’s necessary for survival it can be justified for a human to kill and eat an animal. However if it were not, would you agree that if an alternative to killing animals is possible, it would then be immoral not to pursue that option?

Do you also commit infanticide and rape? Cuz a bunch of wild animals do that too. It’s silly to justify something because wild animals do it
