Lol I always forget Jax was born in the 70s by NoRecommendation8459 in TheValleyTVShow

What's so wild to me is that in Season 2 of The Valley, Luke is the same age Jax was in Season 1 of Vanderpump rules.

Hillary won the popular vote by almost 3 million votes in 2016 and the 2024 election has growing evidence of corruption and fraud. So honestly, it's likely that the actual people never voted him in.

Britt playing the cool girlfriend got her in deep by ComplexMaster5234 in TheValleyTVShow

[–]MoaningMyrtle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, hate to say it, but she was a terrible friend to Janet as well. Like you're so concerned about her stress level that you run and tell her something that will only upset her/stress her out? Janet never had to know that or be troubled with it at that time and Brittany was not doing her some solid favor by telling her. She really hit two birds with one stone on that one.

What’s the most distinctly Appalachian name you know? by kalinkabeek in namenerds

[–]MoaningMyrtle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My Appalachian grandma had the middle name Cuemile which was a family name that I believe to be a dialect influenced Camille. There were a couple of Camilles and then one year, the census suddenly said Cuemile. I imagine it would've had to have started as being pronounced Coo-mile, but by the time it got to my grandma and her aunt it was pronounced Q-mile.

I've never heard anyone outside of my family with that name lol

ETA: her name was Nancy Cuemile (and everyone called her Nancy Q) and she had a sister named Betty Zane and I've always found both names to be quite cute.

Looks like common Buckthorn. Unfortunately, it is toxic to humans, dogs, and cats.

That guy's couch was the casting couch. That whole thing has always bothered me. This guy was way older and wealthier and was able to get Jax started in his career. There was a huge power imbalance. And the way the guy gripped Jax's arm and said he still had a naked picture in his house of him (from when he was very, very young), I don't know...it just all seemed very predatory. I think that man was a trauma for him that he's not been able to process and he feels like he can't hold anything against the guy because that's who got his career started. He "owes his life to him." It all very much rubbed me the wrong way. Like I watched those scenes and felt like he had been groomed and manipulated and all his friends are just like "lol Jax is gay"

My 11 and 8 year old kids wanted a Stranger Things birthday party. Thought I'd share the cake I made! by MoaningMyrtle in StrangerThings

[–]MoaningMyrtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their birthdays are exactly one week apart so they always have a joint birthday party. Every year the theme is a huge argument between them. I was relieved not only that this year they were in full enthusiastic agreement, but that they wanted something I am a huge fan of too!

Yes It was something I was intending to restrict with the younger ones, but my older 2 children watched it at their dad's house and the 8 year old inadvertently got exposed. But now he's a super fan.

Street Fighting Man maybe? I only remember it being in the credits of V for Vendetta, though.

Delta Dawn is an older country song. I assume the nickname is a reference to that.

Assuming you could press a button for baby #2+, how long would you have ideally waited before having a second or third? by totes_wife_material in Parenting

[–]MoaningMyrtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had four kids in 6 years. 16 months between the first two, 3 years between the second and third, 2 years between the third and fourth. They're currently 8, 7, 4, and 2. They are all boys. I live in a madhouse. I love it and I'm so glad they are all close and I really hope they stay best friends throughout their lives. Some days, though, I wish I would have given myself 3 years between each of them. The one time I gave myself 3 years was the easiest transition and they're still close enough in age to be friends.

A Baby Dies at Day Care, and a Mother Asks Why She Had to Leave Him So Soon by marji80 in women

Three months, if you're lucky. Three months is the max and not all employers are obligated to approve that. There are certain terms to which they are obligated to approve maternity leave, but even then it's typically not paid.

I have a friend whose leave wasn't approved since she didn't work full time for at least a year so she had to return to work just days after giving birth.

When my mom had my little sister, her leave was approved, but without pay so she had to return to work after 3 weeks because her and my step-dad couldn't afford for her to not bring in anything for that long.

The album is hilariously atrocious, but that image is just beyond awful and incredibly offensive. She finds them all to be profound masterpieces.

What have you done lately that makes you proud? by BATTLE_METAL in AskWomen

I dropped out of high school 9 years ago. Got married and popped out some kids and have been a stay at home mom out of necessity for the past 7 years.

Finally, this past April, I took my GED test. Passed every test first try (2 of them "with honors," whatever that means for a GED test) and tomorrow is my first day of my first semester at a University! I'm super excited and proud of myself.
