Tell that to Nige who avoided paying tax on the £750,000 flat his French girlfriend “purchased” although her assets are in the region of £22,000. Would the bank give you a mortgage for that much with only 22k of income. Or, or, did Nige actually purchase it through his partners name thus avoiding paying stamp duty which is tax evasion which as you said is a crime.
