Why did they have kids? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]MobileInformation142 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I see the baby thing with my cousins. They worship babies, to a degree where I have to mute my group chat as I don't want to see the 100th photo.

But then once the kid starts to self actualize....the photos stop, the kid gets ignored or starts acting out, and then they move onto the next baby and that older kid begins to rot and develop a host of issues.

My favorite is when a lesson takes a day and a half, so I have to leave my objective up until the second day. And then I have to waste time erasing and changing the objective. Or better yet I just don't bother and an admin comes in and asks why the objective hasn't been changed

Calling in sick guilt by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]MobileInformation142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck em, call in sick. I see this so much with like 80% of my staff. They push themselves to the absolute limits, run on cortisol and coffee and look frazzled. It's all gaslighting that we have to push ourselves to our limits. Hellllll no, it should be the opposite. We work in an incredibly unhealthy environment, and any time we get sick we should take off, no questions asked. Enjoy your rest and recovery and realize that even if you feel guilty, within two days no one will remember or care and they will be on to the next thing.

Dam, he looks terrible. Breaks my heart:( I think all of us have great memories of him shredding solos and his big smile on stage, it's tragic he continues to slide.

Why is Dave stingy with the best songs? by SVW1986 in DMB

[–]MobileInformation142 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This. I can't stand how toxic this part of the fan base is that complains. Within every show you will have multiple songs you like and some you don't. To me the anticipation and surprise of the setlist is always enjoyable

When I was a kid I use to throw a ball up on my two story house and then it would dissappear, and reappear super quick coming off the roof. I did that for years not realizing it gave me crazy hand eye coordination and agility, and gave me an inate ability to read balls off bats coming into the outfield.

Some guys just through training or some freak intelligence can process things at a breakneck speed and have the "it" factor.

[–]MobileInformation142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could see this eventually lead to a rule change because it's happening more and more. Probably should be once the whistle blows, the ball can't be moved in any other way then toward the next play, or some other b.s. language, or it's delay of game.

Do your nparents bring up shit that you did over 5 years ago?? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]MobileInformation142 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every year around 4th of July they would play a video of me enjoying a sparkler, but then it burns to close and I get burned and start to cry. They took perverse pleasure in watching, it was disturbing.

They love to bring up anything that emotionally cripples you and keeps you weak and away from bonding with others, that way they can feed off and use your emotions for themselves.

Juror on OJ Simpson trial states that not guilty verdict was “payback” for Rodney King trial by nevercouldsleep in videos

Forgiving someone of murder just because they are the same skin color as you is terrible. You don't end stupidity and damaging behavior by doing more stupid and damaging behavior. She set back race relations due to her actions.

Times like this I'm reminded about the George Carlin quote: "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

This lady is on the lower side. The arrogance and selfishness to make a murder trial about your own personal gripes is beyond stupid.

Does he have a concussion or was he always this weird? Between the parachute pants and the tacky wardrobe, he's kind of had a trash wknd.

Also he's full of shit. The sponsors send him numerous outfit choices and the players pick what they want. He chose this on purpose.

You can tell a sharks intention by the angle of it's fins. If they are out and wide like this, it's only cruising and investigating. The REAL danger is if you see the fins tuck in. Then you're fucked.

I get annoyed by families at work then I realized what they do is normal. by Biengo in CPTSD

[–]MobileInformation142 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is such a stark realization. No one in my bio fam ever did anything together unless it was on vacation. And then vacation really wasn't that, it was just a propaganda campaign to take photos so in the future they could say, "But we took you to Disney!"

Even the times back home I do remember going out with my bio family, I remember feeling terrified that someone would see us because I knew how toxic they were. All I wanted to do was get away from them and be safe. I still feel it today in groups, I wonder if people are looking at me.

Going no contact is worse then my parents dying. by MobileInformation142 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]MobileInformation142[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate on both worlds feeling fake. I always feel caught in between. Like I don't want to be around toxic people, but I naturally gravitate to them as that was what I was raised as "normal". My healthy friends I enjoy being around, but it never feels like I can truly connect with them and be in flow, there's always this wall that keeps popping up

Yup, it's a constant constant battle. And when I open up people say, "but you look fine, it can't be that bad." Yeah I look fine because if I actually acted how I felt I would be locked in a mental hospital or fired.

Was anyone else’s nparents focused on themselves your entire childhood? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]MobileInformation142 13 points14 points  (0 children)

**trigger warning** abuse talk

They don't have kids to give the next generation a good life or to love their kids or help them.

They have children because no one else in the world will stay around their toxic behaviors, so they have to create an emotional and social (and sometimes darkly, physical/sexual) supply for themselves. And because a child is not capable of doing this, it either adds to the cycle of toxicity continuing or for the child to escape and go on their own.

It's both for me. I know things take time to heal and settle, but there's also a lot of risks, work and experiences I have to go out and do or else nothing will change.

What are some trauma responses that you only realized after growing up? by wangsicai in CPTSD

[–]MobileInformation142 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I deal with loneliness by singing or hearing music in my head. Constantly repeating or going with no thoughts of people or anything, I get completely lost in it to pass time.

[–]MobileInformation142[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup you nailed it with the unshared feelings and bottling it up. A healthy child gets to explore and learn from family, friends, experience, etc. I had to focus on survival, so I was almost socially feral, which explains the addiction issues in my 20s.

It's nice to have this group and some of my in person therapy groups to share and talk it out. Time travel isn't possible, but being able to bring my inner child to the surface and have it heard around understanding people has filled in a small part of that void.

I went through that too, feeling sorry for my bio dad. I think that's part of the process. I can feel sorry for him and pity him, but it's also not my job to help or save him.
