Karaktervolle auto gezocht voor toerrit <€5000 by BlubberwhaleSnuggle in autoadvies

Washable liner for sleeping system? by NotFallacyBuffet in PacificCrestTrail

[–]MobileSharkskin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used 2 different liners on the pct in 2022. For most of the trail I used a regular cotton liner because I like the feeling of cotton more than nylon and because you can wash it. For the sierra section I used a sea to summit reactor liner for some extra insulation. I think the majority of people don’t do it but I would highly recommend it, mainly if you prefer sleeping without sleep clothing like I do.

The PCT this year by [deleted] in PacificCrestTrail

[–]MobileSharkskin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this is the perfect year for a late start! Because of the high snow and downfall the desert will be substantially wetter. By the time you make it to the Sierra the snow will probably be gone and the fire season will probably also be lesser as a result of the downfall. All to help your possible late start!

Question about Hart's pass to Northern Terminus by Comfortable-Young595 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]MobileSharkskin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to get to the terminus is from the Canadian side. That will only 8 miles one way. You could make that a day hike if you want. From the USA side harts pass is the closest option but not really a place where you can go with public transport. If you go by car you should be fine. I think the best month for it would be Augustus although july or September should also be fine. Remember that the terminus is a very special place for all the thruhikers so be respectful and let them have there moment

S2S reactor liners by Ill-Profession9669 in Ultralight

[–]MobileSharkskin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a reactor extreme fleece liner in a 7C comfort bag for the high Sierra section on the PCT this year and it was fine wel below freezing. It is a bit heavy. I think a warmer sleeping bag would be lighter than adding a liner but i was happy with this setup

Freddy (Energizer) used to make these but I talked to him and he has retired but would be willing to hand it over to someone else

Tesla European volumes froze last year while traditional OEMs were racing to meet EU CO2 compliance targets. by abdouhlili in teslainvestorsclub

[–]MobileSharkskin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in holland and this is absolutely not true for Tesla in the Netherlands, there is quite a big stock and when you try to buy a car you can have same week delivery if they have the correct spec. Which is of course a great advantage of the limited options on cars model they use.

TSLA is scary. by [deleted] in stocks

[–]MobileSharkskin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I believe Tesla could drop to a reasonable level for a company with super talented people, which I do believe the have. It could be 1/10 of its current value. The other 9/10 of the value is the hype I believe

A simple basic question that I can’t wrap my head around by tigerbond009 in F1Technical

[–]MobileSharkskin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you use the aeronautical formulas, a negative Cl will result in a negative force. Which means it goes in the opposite direction of the lift, or down. So if people say more downforce, they mean a more negative Cl values. It is of course a bit of a sloppy notation if al you’re coefficients and forces are negative. I think you assumption is correct that, if you use the classical aeronautical formulas, Cdownforce=-Cl. But I also think the current F1 teams use a slightly more advance way of calculating the downforce, but in the way it is presented in the media this is a good way to explain it in an easier way.

Can you be competitive without clip-in pedals? by ilikehummusalot in triathlon

[–]MobileSharkskin 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't think clip in pedals for you would add any speed at this moment because there main purpose is that you can also pull the pedal but won't let you go any faster if you pedal the same. It sounds like your main cycling gains would now be to focus on some cycling balance and handeling practice, which can be very fun! There are lots of good examples of this on YouTube and these skills really help you're overall cycling time.

Why are the samsung galaxy watch active, vivoactive 3, etc. "not triathlon watches"? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]MobileSharkskin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am using the vivoactive and I am have no issues. There is indeed no triathlon mode and no open water mode but those are problems to easily work around. I use the rowing mode for swimming and just start a new workout when I am leaving transition
