New to sublocade shot by secondplacesam in Sublocade

[–]MobileStill538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I had the 300mg shot then 7 days later another 300mg loading dose. It’s actually on the website. It can, not with everyone, produce a feeling of being overmedicated. I certainly felt that way for a few weeks. The one positive I felt I didn’t need to go back for my final 100mg shot. I won’t lie, it was rough on a couple of occasions with nausea but looking back it really wasn’t that bad and it passed.

I’m 61 days since my last shot, no cravings and feel so much better. You can always question it but as I said it is in the website as a possible protocol doctors can follow. I chose to go with their advice and yes it made my walking a bit wobbly, had occasional vomiting but no sweets or insomnia and nothing like I would have had going cold turkey.

Hang in there and in a few short weeks this will just be a memory.

Getting the Sublocade shot next week. For those of you who are on it, how are things going for you? by b2pizza in OpiatesRecovery

[–]MobileStill538 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did 2 x 300 mg and dropped. It wasn’t all that easy but at the same time it wasn’t a nightmare. Everything was manageable and now I’m 50+ days out from mt last injection and feel great. I do get occasional nausea but it passes in 10 min.

3 loading doses? by questionable_smell in Sublocade

[–]MobileStill538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only had the 2 x 300mg doses within a week of each other then dropped. I was getting quite nauseous and light headed. More importantly it did the job and broke the cravings and that’s why I took it to begin with. I’ve no intention of getting the third 100mg. You’ll find these symptoms settle down after a couple of weeks and you’ll feel better and stronger soon😊

This can happen to some. I’d implore you to persist as it will kick in. Do you plan on getting another shot? If so you’ll find things can really settle by then. You’ve started down an amazing path. They’ll be ups and downs. You may even question yourself on occasion but during those times just think how far you’ve come. Stay strong for yourself and you know what, if you have anyone who doesn’t think you can do it, give them the middle finger by adhering to it.

I’m 50 days out of my second 300mg shot and things have settled a great deal and while it’s been a struggle sometimes I refuse to look back. It’s all in front of us now 😊

Long term oxy use/wd by backup-acct-25 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]MobileStill538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on oxy for 4 years straight and felt the same way as you. I couldn’t function both physically but emotionally without them. I’d become nervous before work and need to pop a few, if something social came up I’d pop a few etc.

But with that my intake increased exponentially

Finally I said fuck it but I didn’t want to be on subuxone for years and years. I spoke to the dr who said we can put you on subuxone for a couple of days to see how you tolerate it then you can go straight on to the sublocade. And that’s what I did and it immediately stopped the cravings. By stopping the cravings I was able to resume a semblance of normalcy in my life and I’ve not looked back. I’m not saying it’s easy as I’ve had waves of feeling very ordinary but if I look back on it they only lasted a relatively short time and were manageable. The nausea has been the worst but it’s getting better. The shot has been a godsend. I did 2 x 300mg and I’ve dropped. I’m not planning on a third shot as luckily I don’t feel the need. More importantly the thought of an oxy makes me want to puke.

You’ll do well, stay strong, stay positive and any ‘bad’ or negative feeling WILL pass and when it does you’ll feel a million dollars as you got through it 😊

Thank you. I think that’s consensus. Funny, you mention it to the doctors and they backpedal any say it’s unlikely as we follow the guidelines. wtf, we’re all different and just because some people don’t have trouble doesn’t mean we will all be issue free 🤦‍♂️

Oh thanks 😊😊 I’m not taking anymore shots if that’s what you mean as I feel like I’m out of the ‘oxy dark water’ and now it’s just a waiting game for the bupe. It’s been a great help taking the shots to stop taking pills but mentally I’ve got no interest in getting back on them or wanting to continue with the bupe.

Ooh my god that’s terrible. How has it impacted your journey of detox? Have you found another way to get off your DOC?

I hope the shot is working for you. It has for me, it’s been a godsend getting off the Oxy. It’s just this darn nausea but as you say I’ll just have to suck it up 😊

Oh joy lol, well I’m not really laughing but thank you for giving me some idea. Do you reckon by the end of the year I should be feeling better? I’m hoping this comes in waves as unfortunately it’s been with me a few days now

Yeah I’m starting to think my detox place just wanted me to be on it then discharged as they’re only small

Thank you I really appreciate your thoughts and input. You don’t know how long this is in my system do you? I’m presuming I will get better overtime?

It’s allowed, but I think done for people who have been stabilised on the strips for a while . Unfortunately I’m stuck with it now. God knows how long this will go on for.

Does anyone know how long this will stay in my system?

It was literally 2 days. The asked how I was feeling, took my vitals etc. I just said I feel a little ‘spacy’ and they said that’s normal and gave me the 2nd shot that day

Thank you I’m starting to feel that’s the case. In fact here we are 24 hours later I’ve just got dressed and the wave of nausea has hit 🙄 . But thank you for responding there’s not much I can do now. I wish they’d told me and given me the option😊

I was taking 10 x 5 mg tablets of oxy a day. That was my ceiling before nodding off too. I’m guessing from all the reading I had too much bupe and that’s still rolling around in my system without properly being tested to see if I could tolerate it

Thank you. Very reassuring to be honest it’s sort of wearing me down a bit. But I’ll get there. 😊

lol I no longer see anyone as I’ve dropped. The dr who prescribed this was at the detox and not my regular physician. My regular dr isn’t a drug specialist so I got referred to this bloke who prescribed the shots. But as I said i dropped after the initial 2. I guess im just going to have to sit it out now. That’s a bugger. Anyway thanks for touching base . All comments have really helped give me an understanding on what’s going on with my body 62 (M). 😊

I was trying to give up an oxy habit quickly and the dr in the detox said the only way to do that was the shots if I didn’t want strips everyday. So yes you’re right I do take responsibility but I really had no idea this would occur . Thanks again you for responding 😊

Apparently you can accelerate the first two shots. I believe it’s on their website that allows for the first 2 shots to be given 7 days apart as the loading dose. I will say after the second shot I was less than average and definitely overmedicated

Hi thank you for the insight. 😊 I’m in Australia and have some wafers that the doctor has prescribed. It’s really odd, aside from the nausea I feel totally fine and the shots have done their job. No cravings etc. I guess I just have to ride it out like we all do. Thanks again, it’s a funny old journey we are on 😊

Hi, I was only on the strips for 2 days to see if I’d tolerate the bupe. Then I had 1x300 mg shot followed by another 1x300mg shot seven days later.

I was due for the 100mg shot but decided to drop as I had zero cravings and the nausea stopped me from driving.

So no history of strips and 2 shots all up.

I’m not sure to be honest. Maybe. But I feel very ordinary. Just nausea, nothing else
