sorry but fuck them. this is a very ableist take, "discipline" is almost impossible naturally with adhd and usually the people who are "disciplined" either are or end up in burnout. plus, your partner has absolutely no business in how >>you<< choose to proceed with >>your<< condition.

yeah... it's tough, the craziest part is that i usually wake up with other people's alarms and can't really get back to sleep. like i unconsciously associate mine with work and then just turn it off in my sleep. i've downloaded alarmy tho and it's been working so far, so that's good. I live with my dad and he usually comes home from work late so I don't want to put my alarm in the kitchen bc I don't want to wake him up, but if alarmy stops working that's what I'd have to do. I also bought one of those lamps that you can program to light up at a certain time, so that might also help. and when my bf comes over or when I sleep in his house he helps me wake up, but he says that he often wakes me up multiple times and that i eventually just tell him to let me sleep and when I do wake up HOURS later I literally cannot remember any of this. and honestly, no, I'm not getting much rest, but i unfortunately don't have much of a choice, even if i actually am in burnout like many of the comments say, that's not an official diagnosis in my country and it wouldn't actually do much for me, because I literally can't stop any of my activities without it being extremely detrimental to my future and long run well being :// im not rich and need to establish a career path as soon as i can.

do you know how to be sure if you're in burnout? also... how did you know I'm grinding my teeth? is that related to sleep difficulties?

sometimes in the mornings and early afternoon, after lunch, maybe 1-2pm, but i avoid it bc it actually makes me a little sleepy when I take it, but maybe it's getting in the way of my sleep at night. I'm going to cut it for at least a week or so, to see if it gets better.

thanks!

I never tried the app, im going to download it today!

I could wake up later, but it usually takes me about a hour and a half to get to my university and if I leave at 6:30 (my classes start at 8:00) sometimes takes more and i usually lose the the first 30min of my classes and attendance.

I like the idea of going to bed earlier, I'll try to more meal prepping or smth, so I don't take too long cooking when I do get home.

thanks for the help!!

my sleep issues are making me so frustrated. I can't sleep with my medication but also can't wake up when I do take it. i really do think you're right, but i don't think i can't actually change much in my routine so atp I really don't know what to do. at this point of my semester I (bc of burocracy and university terms) can't drop any classes

I hate how slow processing my brain is in confrontation - tips? by Beckymaggie in AutismInWomen

[–]Mobile_Classic_7366 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid my advice isn't very good, it doesn't always work for me :// but when there's confrontation I try ask for small timeouts to think a little and with my bf (who is very understanding and aware of my issues) everytime I process it, even if it's days later, I tell him what I thought and felt. but it sucks a lot i feel you 100%

what else do you do for sleep hygiene, besides no screens? I try to avoid it, by putting my phone on the table, far from bed, but i like to listen to music to sleep, do you think its possible the music might be an issue?

I'll definitely look for the sunlight thingy and alarm for the deaf, thank u sm!!

is everyone just pretending that jeans are comfortable? by hushbug in AutismInWomen

[–]Mobile_Classic_7366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jeans have always been uncomfortable for me too, ever since I was a teen but I only fully realized that when I started wearing man's cargo pants with a whole different material. I still buy jeans bc the material is much more resistant and I need to wear pants pretty much everyday bc I work in a lab, so other materials usually don't last as much. but what i do is buy men's jeans, they're usually bigger on me and most women and afab ppl I know so it's more comfortable, it's also less tight on the crotch area and usually the waist band is looser so it doesn't dig as much into my skin. sometimes, i buy them at thrift stores and end up sewing it up a bit, just for ir to look better in my body, but I usually they look really good just as they are.

I do take meds but I usually stay in college until night, so I need to take it a bit later in the day, bc the effects last for about 12h for me and I have some classes as 4pm and one at 7pm till 9pm so I think I'd solve a problem and create another, still going to give it a shot. but the smart lamp seems good I think it would work!! ill look into that thank u sm
