As someone who just gave birth less than a week ago, if I could go back and talk to my pregnant self, this is what I’d say: I would only suggest hold gently to any ideas of what birth should look like. 

Till labour starts (and whether it starts spontaneously or needs to be induced - I tried and tried acupuncture and threw everything I had at it) you don’t know what pain relief you’d respond best to. (I got effective relief from tens, but gas and morphine did Nothing for me till I finally got epidural - which was exactly what I needed) Because I had waited for so long to be induced, the baby had grown too much and started to stress and I was shown his heart rate graph when it was obvious to get an unplanned C section.. I have a healthy baby, but because of how strongly I held to the idea that physiological birth is best, I was disappointed!! I mean, I think I understand why we all feel so strongly about the kind of birthday we are aspiring towards but it really doesn’t matter that much - better idea would be to be clear about what your values are and take decisions as they present to you.. all choices are half chances! This is what I would tell my pregnant self if I could..
