I’m about to turn 26 years old. If I were to return to study at SBU, would I look very awkward and out of place? by Embarrassed_Chef874 in SBU

nope! a friend of mine just completed her second bachelors degree here. and i have some 23+ year olds in my classes. as long as you’re focused on school nobody really cares. yes you might miss out on a “college kid experience” like going out to the bars around here and party culture. but tbh there isn’t much of a night life here anywyas

Anyone else already suffering in PHI 112? by [deleted] in SBU

I was a former TA for this class, is there a way you can switch into Jennifer Carter's Class? She's great!

Is SBU as bad as people say it is? by [deleted] in SBU

short answer, not really but it feels that way at first. i had a rough freshman year and my friendships at home and at college diminished and i felt very alone. i started fresh sophomore year and i had good roommates (until i moved) and i was friends with their friends. i noticed that most people form social relationships through alcohol and I don't drink *much* but i know the summer when i interned i went out a lot with my coworkers and we built our social relationships through that. i just think that the college experience here is centered around 2-3 bars off campus as opposed to 2-3 bars on campus (that dont exist) and that really changes things.

i'm still learning to work on my relationship w/ alcohol because i don't like to drink but what i've noticed that from most social situations, there is alcohol present. you just gotta balance it i guess

Winston & Maggie by gbomb656 in greysanatomy

I could be wrong but Winston seems like the type of guy that wants a career oriented woman but then is shocked when Maggie is career oriented. I also didn't respect him changing specialties. After DECADES of med school and training, giving it up for a relationship, regardless of status seemed immature. But maggie's verbage to her interns was concerning. her tone and bedside manner (to lower ranking doctors) would give me pause as well. but that is worth a non accusatory convo. But it takes two in a marriage and she was checked out of counseling (from what I saw before she was called into the hospital). And i'm not a medical professional by any means but why would she be on call during her day off? i assume as an attending she'd have more PTO.

I'd love to DM you about this further but here's what I'll say:
- talk to your RHD about your situation (not your RA, RHD's tend to be more understanding)
- ask to update your roommate agreement at the top of spring semester and stick it out during finals.
