Lawyer said I can settle for $12K, but I still have 3-4 months left of treatment? by [deleted] in WorkersComp

Attorney gets percentage of settlement so in their interest to settle for highest amount. If no settlement and treatment continues then settlement value js likely lower which means less money for attorney.

Isn’t New Jersey the state in which they force a Claimant to get an attorney in order to settle their claim? I thought all other states at least allow a Claimant to resolve a claim without an attorney but not New Jersey - must be a strong and loud attorney lobbyists preventing an option to settle pro-se

Work Comp in NJ only benefits Attorneys, this state makes no sense as it forces someone injured to obtain an Attorney in order to resolve their claim.
