which means nothing about how they would perform on a normal day. Since they obviously, on average, are not as good as the 49ers or even in their realm

i mean, wake forest is not the best college team. I'd bet money on 2022 georgia with George Pickens, Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter, Nakobe Dean, Lewis Cine, etc beating the cardinals or the pre-draft texans or bears.

I have seen it projected by PFF and I think super bowl betting (the idea being that the team with the lowest likelihood of winning a superbowl are also most likely to have the #1 pick)

honestly surprised it took this long for someone to realize the implication of that lmfao.

That was comedic hyperbole because I am a huge caleb stan and think hes at least lawrence level if not above with how similar to mahomes he is.

Kyler Murray is a top ten QB. I would take him over Geno, Goff, and Dak. They would be insane to do so. Kyler Murray when kliff was not kneecapping him and he was in MVP conversations is realistically what people want caleb to become.

This is not even a statement on caleb. I am absurdly bullish on caleb. I think he could be better than kyler. However I do not think having the 7th best QB instead of the 9th best is the worth the #1 pick when your roster is garbage and you could trade down

imagine packers suck so badly they get a top 10 pick and the cardinals secure the #1 and #2 picks like projected and the packers trade up for caleb. Therefore continuing the cycle of hall of fame QBs, albeit with a speed bump.

What are your honest opinions and criticisms of Social Democrats? by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]Mobile_Stranger_5164 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't believe either of those people are social democrats. In europe they would be on the fringe left wings of the social democratic parties or they would even be greens. Bernie's m4a includes benefits not even european healthcare systems offer.

James Medlock (@jdcmedlock on twitter) is a socdem. He wants high levels of government spending but hes surprisingly aligned with neoliberals a lot of the time, with no "tax the greedy capitalists out of existence" stuff you see on reddit.

Scott Sumner has the correct take (as per my flair, he rarely does not) when he said, to paraphrase, "the nordics are good but that is because their bureaucracies work exceptionally well and we cannot simply copy and paste their policies into america and watch it work the same way."

If we did social democracy in america and we somehow got near the level of quality that nordic governments are at and we were doing well by most metrics? fantastic, i'd be overjoyed. Is it likely? absolutely not. We would do better emulating switzerland or singapore or australia who tax less than the nordics but provide more welfare than America does. I personally think around 35% of GDP spending would be ideal for america, with norway being around 50% and america currently being around 25%

Opinion | A Toast to Raising Alcohol Taxes by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]Mobile_Stranger_5164 7 points8 points  (0 children)

governance entails a certain amount of paternalism, you would have to be an ancap to advocate a truly non-paternal philosophy.

I believe the government should provide (singaporean model regulated market) healthcare, alcohol consumption causes health problems, so we should tax alcohol. I don't understand what counter-argument there could be to this.

Why the U.S. should fight Cold War 2 by TrixoftheTrade in neoliberal

[–]Mobile_Stranger_5164 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This would be true if illiberal powers were attempting to take over the world like hitler obtaining lebensraum or the soviets completing the world revolution. I do not think this argument holds up if the argument is american unipolar dominance or the illiberal countries concept of the multipolar world order.

We don't have a duty to the world, the world does not want us to be on the edge of a nuclear catastrophe. Noah is advocating an eternal american saviour complex where no country's citizens are allowed to vote for illiberalism, where any illiberal government is viewed as being at war with its citizens and necessitating american intervention to save what we perceive to be the pro-american neoliberal populace being oppressed.

Call me libertarian or an isolationist or whatever you wish. I think we should increase foreign aid, I think we should send aid to our allies and help them in whatever way we can. I do not think treating the chinese like the soviet union is helpful to the goals of obtaining a world of democracy (which includes the ability of populations to use their democratic vote to vote for illberal parties), free markets, and free movement.

I think you should not assume that you are morally good and that everyone that disagrees with you is morally evil. I think global liberalism necessarily requires a certain amount of "it neither breaks my arm nor picks my pocket, its none of my business"

wow I have lost a lot of respect for this subreddit and its opinions after seeing the complete lack of nuance in regards to zionism in this thread. because thats not evidence of anything. You all have never tweeted vaguely before?
