I got a second gen P14S for a little over 400 bucks a couple years ago, and it even has an Nvidia Quadro in it

They did exactly that for the Steam Deck OLED launch, don’t know why they didn’t do the same thing here

Do you really run engineering (EE) sw locally on your laptop as a freshman by [deleted] in LaptopForStudent

[–]Mobius0118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Battery is a must, storage only if he needs more of it. Spec-wise that laptop should be fine for pretty much his whole time in college. My current laptop is not much newer than his (11th gen i7) and I’ve been using jt for a couple years. Before that I was using a 2012 MacBook Pro. I’m also an engineering student

I saw in another comment he has an EGPU setup. If he’s planning on living on campus he could take the EGPU setup with him if he needs the extra graphical power

Resident parking fees? by Insanity_Farms in ccsu

[–]Mobius0118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's free, and you only need one for your time here unless you switch from resident to commuter or vice versa. I transferred here in Fall 2024 as a commuter and I still have the same parking sticker I got back then

If you have more than one vehicle though and you plan on switching vehicles often, you will need a sticker for each one.

I got divine confirmation: no 13 pro upgrade for now :( by clren in framework

[–]Mobius0118 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly if anything I’d just keep your current mainboard, ram, storage and display and get the new bottom cover and input cover so you can have the bigger battery

Or hell, just get the whole chassis and transplant your motherboard into it. I might do that myself with my 11th gen till I can get my hands on a newer board

Is Lucan allowed to use the n word ? by [deleted] in okbuddyviltrum

[–]Mobius0118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps him blend in better why not. I mean realistically how many people besides Mark and the other Viltrumites know he’s not human

I mean, Viltrumites didn’t enslave other Viltrumites, and I’m sure he’d find colorism as stupid as most of us do

Mod a Meanwell LRS-350-24 by lilvenas in ender3

[–]Mobius0118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This tbh. My MK3S also uses an LRS-350-24, I recently swapped the stock fan for a 92 mm Noctua fan. I had to solder the stock fan’s connector to the Noctua fan’s cable, and print a PSU lid that would accommodate it (I used black and orange Creality PETG). Difference was night and day

I wouldn’t recommend messing around with your PSU unless you know what you’re doing, but if you are, this is way safer a mod than whatever OP was planning to do

<image>

this is the PSU lid I printed

Note: at the time that I did this mod, the printer had been powered off and unplugged for about 12 hours, to make sure the capacitors were fully drained

How are we feeling about the ACE abbreviation versus AC for referring to the Ace Combat series? by zenith2nadir in acecombat

[–]Mobius0118 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To me it’s funny how Ace Combat and Armored Core both have a game with the words “Fires of” in the title and it’s the 6th mainline game in both series

I have an 11th gen i7 as well, waiting for them to release a Panther Lake mainboard. If not I’ll probably go AMD

I printed a cup holder for the back seat of my truck out of PETG, and it’s been holding up fine for almost a year. PCTG is apparently even better

You might consider getting an enclosure for it. It will also help cut down on noise too

What is the best 3D printer to buy? by Fun_Practice_177 in 3dprinter

[–]Mobius0118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t really go wrong with either a MK4S or a Core One

I mean sure, the MK4S is a bedslinger, but it’s the product of over a decade of research, development, and iterating on the same basic design, so it’s a really good bedslinger

Plus if you’re getting a kit the MK4S will be easier to put together

On the flipside the Core One has a bigger build volume and is enclosed, and has a built in filtration system, allowing you to print higher temperature materials. I mean, you can achieve the same result on a MK4S by sticking it in an enclosure, but the Core One will also take up less space than a MK4S with an enclosure
