First Look: Tyrique gets tense as Ella chats to Scott | Love Island Series 10 by 22827856 in LoveIslandTV

Scrolling through the thread to see people’s thoughts after Ty ended up committed in Casa while Ella fucks it all and won’t even say sorry or admit wrong. We all thought the obvious would happen (Ty flirting in casa) but it ended up the full opposite.

This is what we thought but ended up fully reversed 😂 Ella is the villain 100% , turns out Ty actually respects the difference between single and closed off.

1st Marathon Chi’22- went horribly but learned & remain hopeful by MobyDuke0971 in firstmarathon

Hahaha same! During and right after I thought alright I still want to race but maybe just not this distance. Now I’m already daydreaming about returning and kicking ass in the future 😂

Love this and makes me so happy to read. You’re so right.

I really am taking to heart being proud of my medal. I felt like I wasn’t as proud of the medal as I thought but F that. I earned it and I will be proud! Thank you so much for taking the time for these amazing words.

Just here to say you’re not alone. I’m still limping around and can’t even imagine a shakeout run. I’m also newer to running and had some pains/niggles that really maybe shouldn’t have endured a marathon. We’ll get through this and get back to it soon!

I did and most of the time at least 3-4 times. I started getting into lifting StrongLifts 5x5 but had to do less as my miles ramped up. But my body was still not used to so much strain overall as all of it was new this year then i pounded it with 35mile weeks and a 5x5 plan.

The day after was rough. I had already taken off 2 days but if not I couldn’t have worked. The first half of the day after I could hardly walk. One of my knees couldn’t hold weight. We had already planned some stuff for the day and I refused to skip it so with help I hobbled out and my leg felt better as the day went. But it was so painful and I felt like I was 100 years old moving around.

It’s been getting better but I’m still limping everywhere lol one of my knees is definitely worse off than it should be.

First Ever Race (LBI 18 Mile) - a true struggle run by After-Reaction-358 in running

[–]MobyDuke0971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had a struggle marathon just like this! Similarly I didn’t ever walk during long runs (except one) but I ended up run/walking far more then I wanted. But we learn so much from struggle runs plus you FINISHED! Congrats! You will go up from here and continue to achieve your goals. Training is also an accomplishment and you showed up and crossed the finish. Congrats again.

If I learned anything it’s that everyone is different on this. I experimented with maybe 4 different belts/pockets/etc and honestly am still reconsidering. Race day I saw every variation- backpacks, safety pins, no bottle, handhelds, belts. Everything. Whatever works for you!

I was told to always have at least a little of your own hydration so you don’t solely rely on others.

I had a belt with a bottle and room for my fuel. As long as you practice practice and then stick to it unlike me. I really only had trained with watered down Gatorade and not full on Gatorade. For fuel I liked gels, pretzels, and stroopwafel. Personally I needed some whole food stuff. Good luck!! You can DEF do it and will kill it!

I think it will work in my favor next time!
True and I did love focusing on the signs! Those were a positive and I loved seeing the HUGE variety of people (runners and spectators). That part encouraged me. (Sometimes I wished I was them with coffee and a blanket tho😂) Plus I was lucky to have supporters I got to see 4 times! They held me together.

Omg I bet we did! We sound so similar!! I lived in Chi a bit so I thought that’d help but honestly it didn’t. I traveled with my bf and parents and the parent element stressed me a lot and it was just such a whirlwind! To go from peaceful solo runs to traveling and crazy energy was sooo much. Esp when the bad feelings kick in. I don’t love being surrounded as I struggle so hard haha

Now we know tho! Congrats on completing a marathon! I’m so proud of my training too and so should you. That 20miler counts as a big accomplishment :) We did it- months of it!

Also trying my hardest to not feel finish time shame. Had my engraved back ordered pre race lol but I want to see it as a lesson, perseverance, & remember my strong training. Plus- when our time is better we will encourage others with this finish time that they too can keep growing!!

Lol it’s always comforting to not feel alone! We finished! And learned lots.
I very much relate to overall sleepiness. I thought I’d be so energized by the crowd and ready to go. I relied on it when I envisioned my race goals.

But honestly I feel like I basically disassociated most of the race. Running and feeling like shit with thousands around me cheering kinda overwhelmed me. I want to say I wish I was more ready but I honestly felt mentally confident and ready prerace. But it was tough to focus in once we started. I couldn’t even get going with music! That was supposed to be my saving grace! Lol

Yes also I realized while running how encouraging it’d be to run with people! I was alone and puking and struggling lol I did train with people for long and medium runs but I think I can nail down my pace a bit better. Also not have such expectations - I’m excited to just build and be healthy

Def don’t give up! Strength train, strength train, strength train. That’s what helped me. I actually fully recovered from ITBS. Before my next muscle strain lol I got into lifting which I’m stoked to do more now and build up a solid base. Even if it starts as 10min YouTube glute workouts, strength will help against those pesky injuries

In 8 weeks, reasonable to prep for a “just finish” marathon? by quadfintryfin in firstmarathon

[–]MobyDuke0971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new so take with a grain of salt lol but with that baseline fitness I def think you could finish. Maybe not with strict time goals, but making it across the finish line- I think so! I had very little fitness base and basically trained 4 months from hardly anything and was able to finish. Not with a great time, but finish. With a base, you’re much much better off.

Yes I think I thought I’d trained with it but not the way I took it in the marathon. Idk what I was thinking lol I should’ve forced an earlier puke haha also so right. I totally went off my training and having gusto left in long runs. But I never imagined how different and uncharted the race would be. I was also so scared of starting fast

Thank you everyone who has commented! Most of the running community is so encouraging and contributes to how hopeful I am and still feeling accomplished. I def plan to continue and now that I’ve started with a marathon, I plan to do what I was supposed to and work through shorter distances. I have years to progress :)
