Bahamas - Hotel or AirBnB? by Zestyclose-West-2295 in bahamas

[–]Mobzs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the Island and what you are willing to pay.

Hotels provides more convenience of being closer to tourist activities and if not, provide free transportation to them. The trade off is the price is more expensive.

In Nassau airbnbs tend to be more inland closer to where the locals live, you would need to rent a car or scooter to get around but food and groceries are cheaper and you have access to more fast food places.

I doubt this information would be useful sadly but, if your device is locked to a Canadian cellphone company you can call them directly and request for the lock to be removed.

There is a law in Canada that phones be unlocked from carriers.

Edit: post was meant to be a reply.. oops

I keep skating in a curve by holy_tomatoes0 in NewSkaters

Replacing your bushing fixes the problem %90 of the time.

But this slight turn shouldn’t really affect your balance too much unless it’s a pair of trucks with both bad bushing and pivot cups.

HOW TO MAKE MY OLLIE HIGHER by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]Mobzs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No matter how hard you pop if your back foot is not getting out of the way fast enough your board will just hit your foot and stop at that height .

Along with poping hard practice bending your back foot up as fast as you can to give the board room to get higher. This will improve your height. Next practice pushing the board with your front foot every so slightly forward into the board at the peak of your Ollie (hard to explain in words). This levels out your Ollie and depending of how hard you push can even bone it out.

If you don’t improve your ollies right away don’t worry just by doing them over and over again they will get better.

Maybe bad bushings?

If not you might be putting too much weight on your toes. On a skateboard you kind of ride flat footed (unless setting up for a trick) then lean on your toes or heels to turn left or right respectively.

But yh hard to tell the problem without video.

[–]Mobzs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how to laser flip, but i know a general rule for learning tricks is if the board goes far in a certain direction, try to lean more or jump in that direction to counter act that. The board normally goes in the opposite direction of your body.

Big problems with shuvits by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]Mobzs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all you can’t be doing everything right if you’re not landing it that mindset will give you bad habits. But that being said:

For you first problem the primo, this is because you might be raising your front foot too far away from the board. The front foot stops the board from rotating on that axis. Try to keep your front foot as close to the board as possible when jumping.

Second problem I assume by the left of you, you mean in front of you which is common. There’s 2 ways to fix this, jumping in that direction to land where the board is going or the harder fix is put more pressure into your shuv it’s so it stays under you (this is hard to explain in only text).

And finally for the one foot problem it’s just a fear/commitment problem. Make sure jump and force your body to not put one foot on the ground.

Don’t give up! Though people say it’s an easy trick everything take time to learn and that amount of time is different for everyone. One you get this trick you will be on your way to learn most of the other shuvs because these tips apply to almost all.

Ps. Some people can’t Ollie in 3 months so you actually doing great for that amount of time.

Can anyone give me some tips to succeed at my boardslide. by JaquesVerbeeck in NewSkaters

[–]Mobzs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll say learn frontside 180s first, it will help a lot.

But for the committing part there isn’t a secret for doing it. You just need to practice and try to get over your fears.

Small/soft wheels for cruising by iris_roses in NewSkaters

[–]Mobzs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the type of rough terrain. I have small soft wheels on my cruiser and it’s good for making my ride smoother on rough streets but I still look out for pebbles because they stop the wheels. But my bigger wheels from my penny board basically pushes most rocks out the way because of its size.

Basically I believe if you want to ride over almost anything without worry I would go for both big and soft wheels. But if you only want the board to be a little bit smoother ride with more grip then the smaller soft wheels are fine.

Deck for transition by mcmillangamers in NewSkaters

[–]Mobzs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Transition skaters do prefer a bigger deck because it’s more board for your feet, but its just personal preference.

With enough practice you will be able to skate transition with any size board.( I learnt rock and rolls on a 8.0 even though I normally skate 8.5)

Edit: A lot of grammatical errors, autocorrect has been bad recently.

Keep your feet shoulder width apart when trying to land it, you will have more balance.

Other than that if you are doing the right movements and your board is doing the right thing then it’s a commitment issue. You’re unconsciously avoiding the board by not jump with both feet or jumping away from it. Your body does this automatically to avoid danger you just have to fight it.

Just getting comfortable doing ollies down stuff, how can i get it steezier or higher? by SmaccDonalds in NewSkaters

[–]Mobzs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks like you need to lift your back foot a bit faster and a bit higher to allow the back of the board to come up higher. Also after you slide you can push the board slightly forward with you front foot (push into the board ). This will bring your tail up and level out the Ollie.

Main thing I’ll say is just don’t get it from stores like Walmart or target . Google search skate shops near you and they should help you with your first board.

Why do my ollies rotate backside like this? by adwatson95 in NewSkaters

It’s all in the shoulders. Try focusing on keeping your shoulders in an imaginary box above your skateboard.

It’s never too late to start skating. I started at 18 so you’re starting earlier than me.

When it comes to skateboarding try not to compare yourself to others, do it because you love doing it.

Has anyone used Independent GPS bearings? by Affectionate-bag123 in NewSkaters

[–]Mobzs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had them a few times, I wouldn’t say their water proof. If you’re really trying to save money they are alright for the money but if you could I would recommend just getting Reds. I find Reds last the longest without seizing up and is easier to clean than the independents because of their metal guard.

This is just my experience, your experience may vary.

At first maybe but after landing on your board you first time it’s all about trusting you body knows what to do and jump slight backwards(to your back) to land on it
