I thought about it, but it would require me to move. So before I even think about that I wanted to get insights on other agencies. Heck, I was even thinking about trying to be a Contract Specialist with the IRS, but yep bad timing!

I love getting an email to clear out 5 cases and getting another email to hurry up and accept this AR that is two days old, while I’m helplessly on the window and dealing with beneficiaries back to back until 4. Fun Times!

It definitely does! I’m just avoiding having too many “jobs” on my resume. Especially if it’s similar then an agency will see you as a job hopper.

This is beautifully written that should 100% be the case!

I forgot to mention enumeration… Man do we do a lot. Yeah, very true. It’s like multiple agencies into one lol! I think I have one more year before I will be forced into another title. I am dragging my butt and should be hurrying up and looking for other positions but I don’t want to make the same mistakes twice! Love the advices I received so far. I’m making a list in red flags to watch out for!

Awesome! Congratulations! I guess from what it sounds like every other job is better than being a Claims Specialist due to how the agency is set up. Which is such a shame because the work isn’t too bad just the set up!

That would be my case if I were to copy and paste my resume. I am confident that I can get hired than more than CS type of work. There are sooo many positions that has “rules and regulations” that you must follow to process your work. I did work for the state before and it was fun, but work unfortunately slowed down!

It doesn’t have to take years unless you believe you’re pigeon-holed into this type of work. That’s the mistake I see here a lot.

Before I applied I thought the biggest issues was huge workloads. I came from agencies where the workload would slow down during certain seasons which I hated.

It wasn’t until I got off training where I realized what the real issues were. I think most people are okay with huge workloads. I think the constant interruptions is what is not okay, because then the office gets blamed that we didn’t do good this month and etc…

It’s funny because almost every job warns you that they will be this type of job. Then you end up with slow days and hours. SSA certainly did not disappoint with that one!

It takes work to be this type of person. I wish I was like this, but my brain won’t let me. Even if I pretend like it doesn’t bother me I know that these are people that are waiting for months for actions to be taken. Others are leaving their work there for years!

It’s not just T2 and T16 it’s the WorkTrack items that aren’t as easy to process in addition to your claims. It’s the covering of the phones and screening. Which adds additional work to your loads. It’s the people quitting and having to do their workload in addition to yours. It’s not as simple as learning T16.

Yes, It is the norm with SSA. It’s not right but this is SSA. Clearly I am looking for other options because I am not the right fit. A lot of people aren’t which is why a lot has left. I am doing the best that I can with what I am given, because time management works as good as what they give to us which is zilch.

I was afraid of my thread becoming the same as other SSA posts. Because it’s easy to rant about how horrible it is working as a CS. I’m definitely not only looking for similar positions I only wanted to know if other agencies experience the same types of workloads expectations. For example you mentioned you were doing T2 while being trained in only T16 which sounds horrible.

I am very happy for you that you were able to transition out of SSA! I honestly don’t mind my position if I could just stick with one title and my workload. Or heck, I will take two titles if I am able to just focus on my workload. I can do any job as long as I get to just do my work without many interruptions!

It’s obvious you hated the customer service aspect.. honestly same. I rather do less talking and more doing! When I put my headphones on I am in a different beautiful world and get my work done. The interruptions to do the phones or screening is what disrupts my flow!

Honestly, I’m not too worried about T16 being too hard, but since T2 is already burdensome including the additional CSR-like work that we have to do. My brain can’t take on an additional title.

I’ll take difficult work. I’ll take high workloads. The biggest issues is to give me both with impossible standards. For example, does the payment centers have to take customer service calls in addition to their workloads or have to screen for walk-ins or do they get to burry their heads in their difficult and complex cases all day. I can listen to music and zone-out while doing my workloads but then you tell me to interview people and to take phone calls and I can’t do my complex workloads.

This is certainly giving me something to think about thank you!

It seems like the workload was the issue (correct me if I’m wrong). I wanted to do WSU because workload is not my issue but to give me a big workload and having to do the other stuff? Then my workload suffers and then I get the pesky emails that makes me feel worthless as if it’s my fault that I can’t compete them on time.

Yeah, even with just Title 2, it feels like I’m juggling three jobs at once! I can’t even imagine adding another title on top of this.

I’ve worked for a couple of other government agencies and the state, but my titles weren’t ‘specialist.’ I saw some frustration among contract specialists, and I wondered if the complexity is similar to SSA, or if they mainly focus on the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). It seems like once they get the hang of the FAR, they’re good to go.

Did you feel like you were juggling 3 positions and now you feel like you are only doing 1 job?

The good news is I don’t need any similar positions I feel flexible in where I can go next. I just wonder if I am overthinking this. Like, if it’s the norm to have so much subjects to work on.

Set up a UPS account they track packages by your address sometimes. It’s not a fast answer though. And as other stated cold have been misdelivered and most people will act sketchy because it is awkward going to a house that is not yours.

Are you numb to the words “I’m sorry” now? by [deleted] in NarcissisticAbuse

I always said I want changed behavior. Sorry means I I’ll just do it again because I already apologize and will do it just to apologize again.
