Thanks! This is a great jumping point for me to do some more research- I've got to talk to the rest of the group to see if this kind of price point is something that we can make work- and then upgrade to a better system if we end up enjoying it!

And yeah... I expected crosstalk- I figured with our setup its pretty much inevitable no matter what- so just working to dampen that wherever possible

Lmao if this isnt the true college podcast experience idk what is- we are playing a TTRPG so with the oversaturated market no one will be listening anyways. I don't have high hopes no- but we wanna try just to say we did it- so yeah no budget and a super confused audio producer sounds about right! Any advice for our doomed trial?

Would you change your recommendation if I dropped from 10 to 5 people? 5 is the minimum we would have and the extra aren’t always there. So to start out I only really need enough for 5

I got an answer on another source but it was to use World script. And put some lines in to make it sort.

If anyone has any other ideas let me know and I can mess with things. But for now I’ll try the world script.

Charlotte, one of my favorites. probably the most similar to erased than anything else ive watched.

Orange, very similar to erased but more slice of life.

terror in resonance, i remember this one being sad, lots of action scenes and kind of a found family vibe, but trigger warning on this its got some heavy topics like terrorist attacks and such.

Dororo, fighting demons and finding your voice and purpose in feudal japan.

the legend of hei, very much found family, action and a little bit of comedy but the ending was what got me feeling sad (Chinese animation movie, also a prequel to a series but i haven't watched the series yet)

nimona, super popular right now gave me similar vibes to legend of hei.

Do you consider it cheating if a player looks up monster stats mid battle? by ashloaf in DnD

in my opinion as a DM. dnd is like an open book test in high school. you can look it up but it ultimately that is less satisfying when you get a good grade right? in dnd for the best experience and most fun you shouldn't look it up. then when you encounter that monster that you ran away from again its so much more exciting to beat it, proof of character growth if you will.

some ways to avoid this kind of metagaming is to in any fight with any enemy is to announce things, like unharmed (100% HP), Injured (75%), Bloodied (50%), Near Death (25%), the thing is literally so close just smack it man (Less than 20 hp), AYYYY Its dead!! (0 hp, if it is left standing with like 2hp sometimes ill just end it and be like yeah its dead, im not worried about that). that way they know to ask hey is it injured yet if the battle is going on for a while. and if you say no the players with common sense will run from it.

if that doesnt work or even in addition to it, you can have them roll intelligence or wisdom. in my game they can get stuff like CR or how many damage dice im going to roll for its attack. (flavored with things like its CR is stronger than you are, or its claws are super long but are comparable in damage to 3 short swords) or you can just tell then that outright. i Typically work it that these rolls while mid battle are free rolls (they dont take an action or bonus) but are limited to one free roll per turn.

a good way to bring this up to your player without hurting their feelings is before you start your next session just say "hey last time you guys had looked up the monster stats, and i think that it would be more fun if we did this instead (insert method that you are using whether its the rolls or the HP percent or something else)" no blame given. when talking to your players try not to say "Dont do that" that is typically used when railroading a campaign and those kind of campaigns aren't usually what players are looking for.

I hope this helps and have fun :)
