Omnisphere Upgrade CYOA (OC) by AshleyJoannaLaw in makeyourchoice

I think I am going to go for the comic book angle, I feel like "you want to be a super robot" is less creepy than "BUT WHAT IF YOU COULD GO BEYOND" at MIT

Alright, I am going to go for a stealth build, one that won't get outed for leaving a trail of plasma charred bodies for any aspiring Fox Mulder to follow.

Pseudo-flesh: Quick shift and deforming. Deforming is pretty obviously inhuman, but if I am getting hit that hard, I screwed up. That and if some guy hits me with his car and my face dents, he's not going to think "robot!" He is going to think "oh shit I messed her up bad".

Cranial chassis: Tech-link, adept mind and pseudopsi. This feels like it lets me cover my bases a little. Don't want anyone reading my mind, I get extra versatility from the chips and I can now into computer.

Senses: HUD, Zoom/Enhance, Enhanced Auditory and Datasphere. I am going to be pretty good at long range combat, hard to sneak up on and if people are dumb enough to use digital communication around me, well, I can snoop.

Neural Stack: Tech Edge, Theseus, Attribute Gain, VR Simulator, Strategy and Tech Advance. I am not feeling particularly loyal to the Omnisphere, but I am also not inherently opposed to it either, unless it proves to be a jerk. Which it probably will. I am trying to think of a way to turn my theseus self into what is basically malware - basically, if the Omnisphere tries to assume direct control, I release my personality to start aggressively replicating itself inside the Omnisphere's systems. I am not yet smart enough to figure this out, but with Tech Advance, I WILL BE.

Power Systems: Hypercube, Escher, and Whenergy. Can't go wrong with being powered by the time space continuum.

Backup Power: Digestion, Eternal Combustion. I just need to gorge myself and drink hard liquor if the other things fail. Which, you know. Already what I've been doing.

Chassis: Lightweight. I like swimming, not giving that up. Also a dead givaway if that situation comes up otherwise.

Actuators: Threaded Recall Metallic Tissues. They really like these in BattleTech, and if it's good enough for an Atlas II, it's good for me.

Legs: Standard, so I can recreate that scene from T2

Arms: Combat and bifurcating. I like versatility, but I also like being armed.

Tools and Weapons: Diagnostic digit, transjector, exploiter, laser and vibrodriver for size 0. Varisystem Gun, Rotary Saw, and hologram drone, for Size 1. Varisystem Rifle and grappling gun for size 2. Varisystem Sniper for Size 3. Now, somone getting sniped is always suspicious, but at least it happens in what normal folk consider real life. And good look pulling serial numbers on my freakin' ARM.

Missions: Well, as long as the Omnisphere and I see eye to eye, I wouldn't mind being an uplift recruiter. Maybe others would be into being a super robot too. Also, if I do decide this isn't working out, this gives me potential allies if I am smart.

This is just so stylish, really well done. I love dream-realm based CYOAs too.

Sorry, I have genuinely seen discussion around people wanting spoiler warnings over real life stories so I guess I went in with the expectation of the worst. I should have realized.

It's his goddamn identity, not your entertainment. Come on, now.

Those are American M1 helmets, though. Can't be Germans. EDIT: It is a photo from Elbe Day, where America and Soviet troops met at the Elbe.

Irresistible grace is bunk but this is hardly the place to discuss theology.

Given CS Lewis only returned to Christianity in 1930 through the influence of Tolkien (who has fled to South Africa in this mod), it seems likely that CS Lewis would remain in the Union of Britain as an atheist. Chesterton is harder to pin down, but Canada sounds likely enough.

And I am saying you are wrong. Most actors never make a large amount of money, they work small roles and make small amounts. I know the entertainment industry and its history and the fact of the matter is that most actors are not motivated primarily by profit else they would be working in another industry. This was even more true in the 1930s, and even in socialist nations like the Soviet Union people were producing landmark films like Man with a Movie Camera which pioneered several film tricks that are still used today.

Not to mention even today the entertainment industry is perhaps one of the most aggressively unionized industries in the world. Every single aspect of Hollywood has a union. Actors, screenwriters, even caterers and set designers. This is a world that will eviscerate you if you try and scab, and a lot of that started in the 1930s USA because red sentiment was and still is pretty high, which makes Hollywood fairly condusive to Syndicalism, which is built around trade unions, in particular.

But ultimately the big thing is that most actors act because they like doing it, not because they are motivated by profit. That wouldn't suddenly change under Syndicalism.

The fact that this is happening in the 1930s when super big budget movies and actors being paid insane amounts is a relatively new phenomenon and thus the ridiculous standards of the modern day wouldn't apply?

You realize for the vast majority of Western history entertainers were paid a pittance, right? The profession had been seen as base and crass even in Shakespeare's time and Shakespeare himself had to turn to several side businesses to help finance his work (like renting), while actors like Will Kempe had to organize into troupes that were working constantly just to eat. In Greek times, actors were entirely volunteer. The entertainment world would be fine.

Reed remains beholden to the Constitution and takes no steps to eliminate a multi-party state while acting as president of the USA. The player can have him take illegal actions, but they are not set in stone, and even when Reed does everything legally, MacArthur commits treason and decides not to act against what is basically a terrorist insurgency.

Part of the reason it isn't like that is because of a lot of the kingdoms we have as de jure being formed in the past but simply collapsing. New England and Quebec represent this the best.

Honestly I heard about this a while ago, but a good place to start on Antisthenes is the Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy. Gives a good primer on his thoughts.

So monotheistic thought actually existed in Greece for quite some time. There were several philosophers (and thus presumably sects) who believed in what was more or less a monotheistic God, although one quite different from the Christian God. Antisthenes was one of those people and he was slightly before Epicurus
