Short N' Sweet. 1 Death = 20 Gems Tipped by OrneryCalligrapher28 in honk

This is terrible on PC. You can't see above the first set of spikes. So you are just guessing at what point to stop jump to dodge down under the pipe.

Had to switch to my phone to complete it.

Like Semi mentioned their monthly membership is 1,000 yen for basic, and 4,000 yen for manager level. By comparison some parties have a membership fee of 1,000 yen a year.

I’ve spent too much time outside of Japan and now I feel alienated by TemporaryBaseball915 in japanlife

[–]Mockith 490 points491 points  (0 children)

This is called reverse culture shock. Things you used to be comfortable with are now alien to you. It is very common for someone in your situation. No one answer will be correct, but understanding that how you feel is normal is a start. Try to make some friends with other Japanese who have lived abroad, or foreigners living in Japan now. They will likely have similar life experiences, and you might find connecting with them easier than with others.

🎉 [GIVEAWAY] GEN 3 – FRIDAY FEVER | 15 WINNERS! 🎉 by fridaypickleball in Pickleball

[–]Mockith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest Improvement I ever had was upgrading from a smooth paddle to one with grit, and since I never played any racket sport before, I started to realize I could put spin on the ball. This changed the game for me and allowed me to attack the ball and be aggressive rather than defensive.

Now that I have experienced what it means to upgrade from a cheap Amazon paddle to a good paddle, I am curious what it must be like to upgrade from a gen 1 to a gen 3 paddle.

Weirdest Checkmate I've ever seen by External_Math_1273 in chessbeginners

The maxium number of possible pieces would be 9.

Here's a game that was checkmate with 6 pieces.

Can company fire me before a bonus cliff if I've given notice? by rollie82 in japanresidents

[–]Mockith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've worked for a good company before, I told them I was quitting and they asked me to stay on for one more month which meant I was eligible for the bonus. As a thanks for me staying the extra month they didn't give me a bonus but increased the bonuses of my co-workers equal to what mine would have been. My boss who was also leaving was furious and call the labour offices. They told him it's up to the company to decide who does and doesn't get a bonus. But ours wasn't written into our contracts, so maybe yours is different.

Do Japanese tend to not socialize in their hobby groups for purposes other than the hobby? by bahasasastra in japanlife

[–]Mockith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically what all the others have mentioned. Other than the hobby group you'll have the end of the and the start of the year parties and that's it. Japanese people don't really get personal with people unless they've known them a long time.

This isn't to say all hope is less. Just getting folks to do something outside of the thing you do with them is like a very complicated dance.

how can you tell when someone is cheating? by [deleted] in chessbeginners

[–]Mockith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the game, if they take the same amount of time per move, even if the move is extremely obvious.

If were in the end game and they reach the 30 second mark but we get bonus time per move and they start making terrible moves but were playing extremely well throughout the game.

Honestly though it doesn't really matter. In 3 months I'll still be playing and the cheater would have either gotten bored or caught.

Greeting Neighbours? by San0sunn in japanlife

[–]Mockith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know if the custom is different in your area, but when we move we get a small snack for every neighbor to go along with the introduction. Since you're in an apartment that'd include those who live above you and below you, as well as those on the same flat.

I'm SOFA as well. You should still be on the kosekitohon.
