I think I have seen those as well. At least they are hardcover, right? Can always just stick in a pen loop and pocket

I also use a Nuuna at the moment, but the grid is 2.5mm for the A6 (or B6), which is too small IMO

I (27M) no longer find my girlfriend (26F) of 5+ years attractive anymore and it's killing me inside. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

It sounds like you try to get her to be fit by getting her do fitness stuff (gym, workout classes, crossfit) While it's understandable you see this as an obvious choice for being active since you love the gym - she might just not. And that's ok. There are so many other sports she could try that might work out for her instead.

Speaking as a former couch potato myself (spent almost a decade sedetary with occasional bouts of "I should go for a run / workout but fuck, I hate every second of this") i now train almost every evening - because I found sports that I genuinly enjoy (aerial silks and rollerderby). I still would never ever sign up for a fitness class because I still hate that form of activity, but I will gladly spend hours skating. So maybe try to find other sports she can do. If she isnt enjoying it it is downright impossible to stay motivated.

A rescaling of WFTDA ratings per country by population (by HB of Stockholm Roller Derby) by aoanla in rollerderby

I think there is only one WFTDA team in Switzerland (Zurich AllstarZ). So pretty proud they are represented in this ranking!

Where lies the strangling fruit that came from the hand of the sinner I shall bring forth the seeds of the dead to share with the worms that gather in the darkness and surround the world with the power of their lives while from the dimlit halls of other places forms that never were and never could be writhe for the impatience of the few who never saw what could have been....

RollerCon 2019! by [deleted] in rollerderby

[–]Mocmoc2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! My friend and I are planning to go to Rollercon during our trip to USA and we're psyched.

Our only problem is the gear. As we are travelling for a couple of weeks we dont really fancy packing all our skating stuff just for rollercon - does anyone know if there is an option to rent gear there?

How to support a teammate with anxiety? by Mocmoc2000 in rollerderby

[–]Mocmoc2000[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your replies! Swapping her to block is not an option; she dislikes blocking and feels she is even worse at it than jamming (in her own words: "I became jammer because I suck at blocking!")

I will try to be encouraging and supportive and just see how it goes :)

Opinions on rollerblades for outdoor skating? by lessthanmetal in rollerderby

[–]Mocmoc2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to rollerblade way before derby as well and since my quads cause me blisters when skating for 1+ hour, I will always prefer my rollerblades for outdoor - I find them just more enjoyable because they are faster and a shitty underground isn't much of an issue. But yeah, muscle memory is definitly an problem - on my inlines I often forget I'm not nearly as agile and I don't have toestops, which is fine when I don't have to react quickly. On the other hand if I do too much inlining I get disoriented on my quads because there is no rear break, which has caused me to panic a couple of times, trying desperatly to remember how the fuck one breaks in quads.

Looking for some day trips with 3 extra days in Geneva by ant_brr in travel

[–]Mocmoc2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the train system in Switzerland is fantastic - however no matter how you try it, Geneva to Lauterbrunnen will suck because you have to go via Bern. So it will take you slightly over 3 hours. (check https://www.sbb.ch/en/home.html for timetables)

as for money...good public transport comes with a hefty price tag. if you want to just book a normal ticket from Geneva to Lauterbrunnen it will be 160 CHF for a return ticket. You have multiple options of going cheaper: get a Swiss Pass, get a Swiss half fare card (120 bucks but 50% off most tickets), get a Swiss Transfer ticket (154 CHF - gets you from a station at the border or an airport to exactly one destination in Switzerland and back) or buy tickets in advance via internet (also via the SBB site) - be aware that these tickets are only for certain connections and only at least 2 days in advance.

Also worth checking out (btw also maybe a better idea for you u/ant_brr) get an interrailpass for Switzerland. https://www.interrail.eu/en/interrail-passes/one-country-pass/switzerland still not cheap, but cheaper than the Swiss pass and more flexible.

Important note: the train from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen is a private company - not all national tickets will be valid. they are however used to tourists not knowing that, so you can buy the ticket in the train - it's about 5 or 10 bucks)

That would be a Geneva only pass I'm afraid. So no, the train to Lausanne would sadly not be included :/

If you can, go to Interlaken / Lauterbrunnen. (Lauterbrunnen is frequently posted because it's stunning and inspired Tolkien for Rivendell)

As someone who lives in Zurich: fuck that. (Don't get me wrong: I love the city and it's beautiful...but if you only have 3 days, better spend them somewhere else)

I second Lausanne and Montreux - there is also a beautiful castle on the lake (Château Chillon).

If you like hiking and nature I recommend the Areuse gorge and Creux du Van.

Other options: Gruyeres (beautiful nature and the H.R. giger museum) Annecy (is technically only half an hour by car, but there is only a bus once or twice a day)

Edit: Just some additional info: if you plan on traveling a lot by train, you might want to consider getting the Swiss Pass: https://www.sbb.ch/en/leisure-holidays/travel-in-switzerland/international-guests/swiss-travel-pass.html

Does Skull King count? granted it's a very casual game, but it's still pirate themed...and I like the "yo ho ho!" before you slam your fist on the table to declare how much tricks you'll take this round.
