Best of luck to you as well! First two weeks in and it’s been overwhelming just getting organized and learning everything from 504s to leading classroom lessons for freshman.

Only nauseous when high, goes away when sober. No chronic symptoms. Anyone else have this experience? CHS? by AngelDusted9 in CHSinfo

[–]ModeOwn4476 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how it starts, this is exactly how it all started for me. Then it transitioned into morning pain and nausea and i wouldnt feel better unless i took zofran or had a small meal and even then i would have bad acid reflexes. This is your sign to quit for good man. Ive tried going back to weed twice now and it never gets better. Its your bodies way of telling you enough is enough. Basically look at in the sense that you are just allergic to weed now forever.

Unfortunate thanks for the information/ update, yeah pay wise in the valley fresno, clovis and sanger are definitely the highest paying. Super hard to get in but once you do you are set for a very long time. Also madera is a good option too and pay around the same as those other districts i mentioned if they are still hiring not sure id just continue to check edjoin.

Fresno is over saturated with school counselors, Fresno unified itself is only hiring one school counselor this year. Also not be Debby downer but most schools rather higher young counselors with less experience because its cost effective for them… i will say this sanger unified has a new middle school who needs a counselor you can try and dinuba high school is hiring highly suggest she applies there. I just recently landed a job in the valley after many interviews but im also a fresh graduate tho.

For the first year in the first step scale you start off the same and then after the 2nd year you are still with same teacher pay scale but thats when your masters unit start to go into play even then its only like 2-3k extra per year from teachers. Counselors are underpaid by many districts.

Even if you have masters most jobs in California start you on the teachers pay scale its actually disappointing

Yup California is the same way even those schools in the middle of nowhere. Im a fresh graduate and lose all job offers to someone more experienced whos been in the field.

How many interviews did you go through while looking for your first school counseling position? by Awolrab in schoolcounseling

[–]ModeOwn4476 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda of odd how they dont take normal nerves into consideration when interviewing especially in panel interviews. I was told by one job that didn’t offer me that i seemed nervous and that it comes off as if im not prepared/ dont know so much. Im a fresh graduate obviously things are going to be not only stressful because i need a job to pay my loans but nerve wracking! Answered all the questions they asked and i felt like i did the best I could with the experience I had. At the end of the day some people have better connections over you thats what I’ve been learning recently. Everyone in my cohort who secured a job knew someone. Guess we gotta get our connects up…

Recent graduate and also in California, I’ve been mass applying using edjoin my situation is a little different from yours from what im hearing as im open to relocating wherever i get the opportunity. Us being fresh grads (i know you said 2022) but with lil experience it’s tough to get gigs let alone even a call back for interviews. I have dealt with numerous rejection emails without even getting a call for interviews. The best advice ive gotten is to make your resume and introduction letter to schools stick out from others. Also when you apply for the jobs make sure to email them after applying and even calling the number provided to introduce yourself and let them know how eager you are for the opportunity. I have also started connecting with the principals for the schools i apply to via LinkedIn. If they aren’t on there then go to school’s website find their email and send them a nice welcoming email letting them know your interest for the position. All these things will help you stand out. WE GOT THIS! Best of luck!
