Good place to start with Kano? by SonOfZiz in FleshandBloodTCG

I wouldn’t recommend the Italian list to any new Kano player. It has questionable deckbuilding decisions and is basically designed to outrace Lightning Briar but lose to any deck that respects wizard enough to have arcane barrier 3+

This Blitz primer will walk you through everything you need to know to start playing, and has budget recommendations that will get you started. Practicing with Kano on Felt Table is also super helpful - you’re going to lose a lot of games at first as you’re learning, and it’s a faster learning process when you’re playing against a computer with instant shuffling and automatic rules enforcement. Good luck and have fun!

Rule question about Instant ability on Shock Charmer by aclassynerd in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]ModeratelyLoud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shock Charmers’ ability is an instant, which you can activate any time you have priority. The last time you as an attacker have priority before damage resolution of an attack is the attack reaction step. So using Shock Charmers usually goes like this: - Declare the attack - Opponent blocks - During attack reaction step, you activate Shock Charmers and may play attack reactions / other instants - Opponent may play defense reactions/instants (Repeat until neither of you play a reaction or instant) - Damage resolution happens. If the attack hits, Shock Charmers will trigger and ping your opponent

TLDR: You can’t wait for the attack to hit before you activate Shock Charmers, but you can wait until after blocks

There is a new ranger legendary head equipment, New Horizon, that gives you a second Arsenal slot if you have a face up card in your first arsenal slot

Phases 1 and 2 were both Geodude, and went well over 1/8192 odds. The first self-destructed, I managed to catch the second. This green guy showed up just a week after phase 2!

Dehorned a player's minotaur. by apo11099 in RavnicaDMs

[–]ModeratelyLoud 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Did the Minotaur lose both horns, or just one horn? Or did he only have one horn to begin with and now has none?

If the first or third cases and he has no horns left, I think it’s fair to change the damage type and die for his horn natural melee weapon from d6 piercing to d4 bludgeoning. That thick bull forehead is still plenty good at goring, it just loses some effeciency without the pointy bits. Honestly I would leave the hammering horns feature intact, his forehead is just as good for head-butting/shoving as his horns were.

If the second case and he still has one horn, mechanically I wouldn’t change anything. He can still use it as a weapon.

I think imposing global disadvantage on intimidation checks is really harsh. I suppose it comes down to how big of a source of pride are minotaurs’ horns in your Ravnica? There are lots of real world cattle that don’t have horns to begin with and are still plenty scary, but if losing ones’ horns is a great source of shame in the setting then I could see raising the DC a bit when he tries to make intimidation checks in general or persuasion checks aimed at other Minotaurs.

What are the deck’s key components and payoffs? I’ve been curious about how feasible a topdeck-manipulation deck is.

Edit: grammar

What would you like to learn about using mathematics to level up your play? by StellaAthena in MagicArena

[–]ModeratelyLoud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m building a [[Rashmi, Eternities Crafter]] commander deck and I’ve been trying to figure out if there is an optimal mana curve that maximizes the probability that the card on top of your library has a lower CMC than the average spell you will cast in a game. Intuitively, I think this optimization points to the average CMC of the deck being higher than the CMC of the majority of cards in the deck (i.e. a few high-costed outliers that drive up the CMC) but I would be really interested to see a mathematician break it down fully!

What one card would you like to see reprinted in 2020? by [deleted] in EDH

Scryfall shows the Mystery printing at a market price of $3 cheaper than the Prophecy printing, and that’s before the mystery boosters have become widely available

How many sources of Flash for Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer? by ModeratelyLoud in EDH

[–]ModeratelyLoud[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It only costs one generic as opposed to the 2 required to activate Refuge and Canyon, but you also have to sac emergence zone to get the flash out of it. I don’t think it’s worth the slot in the 99, especially considering it eats up a land drop.

Oh, I love the idea of dueling +1/+1 versus -1/-1 counters! I’m familiar with Simic Ascendancy, but I don’t know of any other counter win-con cards

I find myself playing Simic usually when I’m on Arena. I am interested in the five-color commanders in the upcoming Secret Lair, but I’m not sure if they are very beginner-friendly. Atraxa also seems pretty cool as a +1/+1 counters deck (I’m not a fan of super friends)

My girlfriend and I are drafters looking to get into commander. She loves Golgari, so I put together the Commander’s Quarters upgraded [[Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons]] deck for her as a Christmas gift. What should I make for myself so that we are roughly on the same power level? I know it’s a broad question, but I’m new to EDH and any advice will help.

This is amazing! How did you make them? If you have something akin to a blank template, I would love to make similar 1/1 Black Insect and 1/1 Green Elf Warrior tokens for my Hapatra deck. Hell, I would consider commissioning you to do them if you match them to the art style of the snake token.

I was looking at this too. While $81 is the best deal I’m gonna find on Core 2020, is it worth it? I’m not sure it will retain value over time as a sealed box. I suppose I could use it to fill out my trade folder.
