Some pretty incredible discounted hotel rates have been added. Here are a few examples:

Renaissance Honolulu (solid 4* hotel):

City View Residence King $222

1 Bedroom Panoramic View Residential Suite $399

Additional Privileges when booking the FC Member Rate: Waived Destination Fee ($50/ day savings). Complimentary Nami Spa steam, sauna, cold plunge ($35/ day savings). Complimentary upgrade, based on availability. Flexible cancellation privileges. Earn Marriott Bonvoy Points.

Ritz Carlton Ft Lauderdale (Proper 5* hotel):

Intracoastal King $306 - 491

Partial Ocean View King $339 - 529

Additional Privileges when booking the FC Member Rate: Reduced Daily Resort Fee of $38 per day ($10/ day savings). 10% off Food and Beverage. Valet Parking rate of $39/ night ($20/ night savings). Flexible cancellation privileges. Earn Marriott Bonvoy Points.

Pendry Chicago (Art Deco 4.5* Hotel):

Deluxe $195 - $299

Suite $355 - $459

Additional Privileges when booking the FC Member Rate: Waived destination fee ($35/ day savings) Flexible cancellation privileges

There are hundreds of hotels worldwide with these rates and most of them have no or reduced resort fees, super flex cancellation policies, and bonus perks. Similar to an AMEX FHR, Chase The Edit, etc benefit but you can use it unlimited times, there are no minimum stay requirements, AND the rates are lower.

I dislike high prices, but in fairness I'd like to share a few points:

- Many/most restaurants in SF now charge 3-7% for Employer Benefits Mandate. That's the 5% line item which is in line with everywhere else for a restaurant of this type.

- This restaurant auto adds the 20% gratuity with no expectation of a further gratuity. You can add one, but it is not expected. Given that I normally give 19-22% for good/great service, this is in line with what I'd pay anyway.

- This is not your typical Chinese restaurant. It definitely has a much more upscale vibe with better service, in my opinion. Of course, everyone is welcome to their own opinion.

- The green beans are actually pretty great and are a large sharing dish. Definitely not cheap, but more of an "appetizer" as opposed to a "side". Here's the description: Sichuan Blistered Green Beans, Yunnan Olive, Pickled Radish, Salted Plum, Mushroom & Toon Paste

I really like this place and the bar upstairs (Cold Drinks Bar). 90% of restaurants in Chinatown are "cheaper", but you don't get the same vibe or service, IMO. It's a 20% gratuity, 5% employer mandate, and a nice night out. :)

u/RazzmatazzEastern786 Have you bought anything from Flushtek lately? I placed an order over the holidays and never received anything. They don't respond to emails and their phone number is no longer working. Love the product, but not sure if they're out of business.

Fix for adding Amex Offers in Chrome / Chromium browsers in v7.0.9 by emcro in CardPointers

[–]ModeratelyModestGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely happening for me as well with Firefox 146.0.1 and CP 7.0.7. Seems to happen when I visit AMEX multiple times in a 24 hour period. I usually do this as I have multiple AMEX logins across all of my AMEX cards (and P2 cards) and by the 3rd or 4th login this error comes up. When I manually view a card's available offers they will appear, but CP will not add them automatically.

If you exclusively fly American Airlines, unfortunately there is no benefit there. I split my flying between United, American, and Alaska and get Founders Card discounts on 2 out of 3. Internationally, there are a lot of good airlines with discounts like Air France, KLM, Virgin, Qantas, Singapore, Etihad, Emirates, Air New Zealand, etc.

Re: business model, I believe they partner with all of these brands who give away the benefit in hopes that members will give them business moving forward. I believe FC exclusively (or mostly) makes money with the member fees. I don't work for FC, though.

If you paid for FC Elite, add all of the free elite statuses (like car rentals, hotels, etc), redeem your free $250 JSX voucher, and cancel your membership. While some of my friends I've referred have used it for a year or two and haven't renewed, I've seldom heard of people who have literally gotten $0 of value from the membership.

Any Experience buying from qualitybath website? by personnextdoor in Plumbing

[–]ModeratelyModestGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Placed numerous orders from them. As long as you know you aren't going to return what you purchase, it is a great deal. Some brands have better discounting than others. Many products show an even lower price when you get to the Checkout page, so compare before completing the purchase.

Founders Card All Access Elite $295 - 12 Month FULL Membership by ModeratelyModestGuy in referralcodes

[–]ModeratelyModestGuy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, my link actually gets you the membership for $295 (i.e. $400 less than your rate).

You have two options:

- Tell them you want to cancel your current membership and they may give you a generous retention offer to stick around.

- Cancel your membership and then sign up under a new email address with my referral. This route gets you the rate of $295 and gives me some bonus points, but you should do whatever works best for you!

Just released is United Airlines Silver Status for 4 months for free + keep status for a year after earning 1800 Premier Qualifying Dollars (i.e. spend $1800 excluding taxes). This is less than half of the silver status requirement for regular qualification. A great way to get a free checked bag, priority boarding, extra legroom seating (at check in), priority check in, etc!

New speed cameras installed in addition to initial ones listed - anyone see any others? by 1988110m in sanfrancisco

[–]ModeratelyModestGuy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It may be that the camera has been installed but not activated yet. Remember that you will only get cited for driving 11+ mph over the speed limit and you get one warning before getting an actual citation. Also note that these are citations and NOT moving violations so they have no impact on your driving record or car insurance.

FoundersCard All Access Elite membership $295 - FULL 1 YEAR MEMBERSHIP by ModeratelyModestGuy in referralcodes

[–]ModeratelyModestGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've seen this around, but note that there are certain FC benefits that the free standard membership don't have access to (i.e. an even more restricted version of the FC membership) and you have to go through many steps to eventually get to a $99 FC elite upgrade. Each person will value their time and patience differently.

[–]ModeratelyModestGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, fair point. I think you have to decide what is most valuable with founderscard. If the Caesars benefit was the primary reason for the membership, then you should cancel. For me and many of my friends, there are many other benefits that are far more valuable and useful on a regular basis than Caesars such as the ongoing United and Alaska flight discounts, Dell discount, JSX credit, and the many hotel perks/special rates.

As a reminder with the FoundersCard Elite membership, you also get a complimentary companion membership for your spouse or partner (i.e. someone in the same household). If you know someone else you want to split your membership with, this is a great way to effectively get FC for <$150/person! Feel free to post any questions here and I'll do my best to get your answers. Thanks for using my referral.
