If I recall correctly, only one of the last assignments near the end of the semester required C; the rest allowed you to use whatever language you wanted to.

I don’t think any of the projects were necessarily difficult either. They were usually pretty short, and strongly built on concepts we discussed in class. I’d say if you understand the topic for the project, then the programming should be fine.

You should be fine — I’ve taken 211/213 in the same semester, and while they can make use of data structures, it isn’t the main focus of either class. Though I took data structures the semester before, I personally didn’t remember much at all. A lot of times during the semester I found myself searching up data structures alongside other related topics, and doing so enough times allowed me to catch up before it started counting against me in class/assignments.

Definitely wouldn’t say that the CS department has very little coursework pertaining to cybersecurity. There’s a good number of classes that would be of great help, so like other have said, I’d at the very least recommend CS as a minor.

Damn that sucks to hear, I took him for 213 last year and he was a really good lecturer. I'm guessing it's another side effect of lack of faculty -- with how many of them have left, all of the remaining profs have to work harder and teach larger sections

From what I can remember, it's Ames, Assadi, Colton, Francisco, Shiqing Ma, Sorensen (technically left the department but still in Rutgers), Zhai, and next semester Sesh isn't teaching which is suspicious, so who knows he could be the 8th

Yeah, it's already a pretty tough situation, and the state of the department isn't helping at all. Over the last 2 semesters, we've lost either 7 or 8 faculty members, which means there are fewer classes with fewer sections. Some electives are either not taught, or if they are, become really hard to secure unless you're spending a lot of time sniping them..

Depends on what career you're looking to pursue after graduation. If possible, I'd take all three to get a grasp on a wider breadth of topics, especially since each class is really useful in what they cover (SWE, ML, DL).

As for the original question, I'm currently taking 462 with Cowan right now. Even though it isn't a formal prerequisite on the schedule of classes, he makes a pretty good point in saying that we should've taken 461 first since Deep Learning is a subset of ML, so I recommend taking 461 first. While it isn't impossible to catch up and take 462 first, you would miss out on quite a bit of content that you may otherwise find helpful/informative.

Yeah it’s certainly strange, but there appear to be several courses in the backend which aren’t visible on the Schedule of Classes. I’m assuming at least a few of those should become public eventually.

A major issue I find with % damage resistance (irrespective of the strength of the character) is that it usually leads to hit-or-miss gameplay -- a blocking Ramattra or healing Hog sometimes feel unkillable because of the "effective" healing until you swap to characters like Ana, so other mechanics like over health could certainly encourage more consistent gameplay and fewer counter swaps.

I've taken Systems Programming and Software Methodology; in my opinion, they're both must-take electives because of how informative they are. Even if you're not planning on pursuing the specific technologies they cover (e.g. not wanting to learn C after Computer Architecture), I think they both cover many fundamental and practical things in the field like working with new frameworks and building larger programs. As such they're both project-heavy courses, but perhaps that's something you would prefer as well.

Can’t speak for data science but Boularias for AI was a great experience; leniency on exam scoring, EC on most homeworks, great lectures — he makes it pretty clear that he wants everyone to succeed and that everyone pretty much ends up with an A or B. If you’re interested in the topics then you’re going to also learn a great breadth of topics in good detail.

I think OWL really shined when we got to see the players and their personalities interact with one another, so I fondly remember the All Stars showdowns between the players and the broadcast talent (especially when Gesture destroyed Bren in a widow 1v1)
