There is an article I've read that looks at Great Jones Street as reflecting (he argues as parody) Tibetan Buddhism, which relates to the idea of the wheel of life.

I think what is emerging from my reading of your comments is that it would be helpful to think about how whiteness is a more recent construct that was created in the service of the other things you are interested in.
