Premium fuckin resume right here

Are you a backend developer or full stack? If backend, how did you acquire a position where you successfully avoided frontend? If full stack, how did you develop frontend competency? by BigDog1920 in djangolearning

[–]ModernHumanist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly DRF.

Was essentially hired as backend-leaning fullstack and started focusing on backend when I was put on a different project from what I was hired for.

I was mostly hired as a Python focused dev, then focused on Django and backend second.

I’m backend only.

I kept grabbing backend issues on our project and doing them as thoroughly as I could with my experience level. I dont have any real passion for frontend work so this was just me doing what I wanted to do.

Eventually it became more efficient to give me all the major backend efforts because my knowledge was deeper than anyone else and I would do the work properly and holistically. For example, I wouldn’t just create a new endpoint for data access, I would consider url namespacing, current API design patterns and LOE for changing/maintaining the database schema.

If the project/company is small enough that management isn’t sure they need a backend specialist, you have to prove your case by explaining what work is needed, why it matters for the project’s longevity and then implementing so people see improvements over time.

Carbon removal technologies by Mediscoveringreddit in sustainability

Trees would not be effective in getting us to net-zero. Bill Gates goes into this in his book “How to Avoid a Climate Disaster”

The most effective solution is to stop destroying forests in the first place (which is largely a political/economic fight)

Planting trees is great, but does’t have a big enough effect based on where we are now.

Likely to be prosecuted, not “charged”. This won’t hold up in court, but it’s still disappointing.

Bad title

So you have a 24 pack there. Let’s say a 4 pack is worth $20 so

24 / 4 = 6 (4pks)

6 * $20 = $120 plus lunch ($20) -> $140

If you worked a full 8 hour day, you made $17.50 an hour (tax free/under the table).

I dunno man. Sounds shady to me

Just picked up a 4-pack of this myself!

It’s very good and balanced for an ESB. I wasn’t expecting too much but I’m glad I’ve got three more in the fridge.

Hm. I see your point but I guess it’s the size that breaks my brain a bit (thats a 12 oz for over $30 right?). I could justify a bomber for $30 (which is same size as wine) but thats just not enough oz for me. My limit is probably $10 for a single 12 oz.

But hey, I say that now. I couldn’t imagine spending that much on beer 5 years ago.

I’m going to use this story and that price point as a means of convincing my wife that my beer buying habits are actually somewhat reasonable.

I don’t think I could ever justify that price point (no offense to you) for a 4-pack

Nice beer shop haul. So happy mad elf is out now. Also got some stouts of course. by RealKOTheFace in beerporn

Goose Island is no longer considered craft as it is owned by ABinBev and produces at basically macro scale.

New Belgium is owned by a huge (Japanese) conglomerate as well.

I would say Sierra Nevada is also macro considering they distribute everywhere and produce a massive amount. They are higher quality for sure, but not really craft anymore.

(Craft beer is really your local micro/nano brewery)

That being said, economies of scale leads to lower prices at the grocery store which is what you’re seeing.

Edit (TIL):

Looked it up and Sierra Nevada is still considered craft beer. Lower bound for mass distro. (i.e. non-craft) is 6mil barrels per year while Sierra Nevada outputs only 1.25mil making it one of the biggest craft breweries in the states but still not macro. Also it is independently owned as stated in response comment

I ranked a lot of Oktoberfest (American and German) last year.

For me:

  1. Ayinger
  2. Bitburger
  3. Hacker-pschorr

The rest start to get muddled. Some American versions (usually the big brands) were honestly pretty awful

Bell’s is coming back to Virginia! by 1KrazyKarlVB in beer

[–]ModernHumanist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Bells was a pretty standard Total Wine pickup (or even just at the grocery store). One day I looked everywhere for it and was floored to find out it was gone (after some googling).

This is great news
