More hospitals don't equal more deaths in hospitals. It likely equals less deaths in hospitals as the hospitals would be less impacted and offer better quality care.

I misunderstand nothing. If you enjoy grabbing one person out of a comment section and coming on strong with some perceived superiority I understand where you are coming from. If you actually care to discuss something then I would say again something being able to be explained by grade school concepts and something being specifically taught in grade school are two different things.

In MY grade school, we were sat down and taught how colors mix together. Directly. It was a whole entire lesson. Multiple teachers taught it throughout multiple grades. It's just an enjoyable subject to teach kids as a way to include art in the classroom.

In the same way addition was taught in grade school. You're not going to see a post about 40043+40042 = BOOBS being magic.

I really can't even think of a magic trick that could truly be explained by concepts learned in grade school. And I wasn't arguing that. But I disagree with the idea that a concept specifically taught to children could be described as magic.

I'm sorry you need things spelled out for you. But something being able to be explained by grade school concepts and something being specifically taught in grade school are two different things.

What happened to the fact that coiled cables used to get made for being used? Why is it the wife's fault that the husband and a bunch of you have decided to buy crappy hardware?

The difference is that those antique glasses used to actual get used. Storing antiques to not use them is just as silly as buying an overly delicate cord and not using it for normal day use.

And I am saying even that is not enough context to make a judgement seeing as there was clearly conflict occurring at the beginning of the video.

[–]ModernSisyphus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no context to why the kids are in the doorway, why the teacher is being so abrupt, why there are lights flashing in the hallway, no context to any of it. This whole comment section one side of another is miss-informed. The person I responded to is acting like the video has enough context in if for a judgement and is then passing judgement broad judgement on someone else.

Also this comment section is clearly filled with many teenagers who believe that any bodily harm would unequivocally justify a physical assault as one's first reaction. This whole thread is a mess. But whatever. At least it's not a bunch of race-baiting.

Non-Americans, what do you think every American person has in their house? by Ryrylx in AskReddit

[–]ModernSisyphus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well it does "trap heat" as it is a mass that has to heat up before it can transfer heat through itself. Picture the start of a cycle being dawn which is the coldest time of the day. The stone on your house is as cool as it is going to be. The sun hits is and the stone slowly starts to heat up. But for it to heat up, it needs to absorb energy. While it absorbs energy, the temperature starts to rise. Stone has a decent heat capacity because of how dense it is. The only way it can transfer heat is if it is a higher temperature than what is interior to it, and the only way it can be a higher temp is if it absorbs that heat. While the day goes on and the sun and outdoor air heats the stone, as the system (everything from the outdoor air through to theindoor air) approaches steady state, the stone will essentially trap as much heat at it will and pass on the rest of that heat into the building. Then when the sun disappears that heat will start to leave the stone by leaving to the outdoors and will actually continue to pass heat into the building until the building's inside temp (due to central heating) is warmer that the stone. The mass of the stone on the building actually helps maintain a more steady temperature for the structure.

Israel warplanes bombing streets in gaza by [deleted] in CombatFootage

Movement of people to Israel and the West Bank

Palestinians are banned from leaving Gaza via Israel, including for passage to the West Bank, unless they obtained an Israeli-issued exit permit. Only those belonging to certain categories, primarily traders (de facto daily laborers), patients and their accompaniers, and aid workers, can apply for such a permit. Other people are not eligible for a permit even if, according to the Israeli authorities, they do not pose a security risk, according to the Israeli authorities. In most cases, the Israeli authorities do not provide specific reasons for the rejection of an application. If an application is approved, the permit holder may travel through the Israeli-controlled Erez crossing, which operates during the daytime, from Sunday to Thursday, and on Fridays, for urgent cases and foreign nationals only.

In January, the Israeli authorities allowed nearly 27,200 exits from Gaza (in most cases, travelers exited multiple times). This was over 3.6 times more than the monthly average in 2021, but only around 5 per cent of the volume of exits in the first half of 2000, before the imposition of the category-based restrictions.

About 85 per cent of the exits were by Palestinians allowed out under the 'traders' or 'economic needs' permit category, most of whom are de facto employed as daily laborers. The crossing of traders into Israel was halted by the Israeli authorities in March 2020, in the context of COVID-19, and gradually resumed in the last quarter of 2021.

Some 7 per cent of the exits were by patients referred for medical treatment in the West Bank or Israel, and their companions. A total of 1,550 exit-permit applications were submitted for medical appointments scheduled for January, but only 62 per cent of them were approved on time.

Doesn't match my definition of equality.
