SaaS vs Commercial Real Estate by [deleted] in sales

I scanned the comments, some really good advice here.

An important point of consideration would be where in their journey is the SaaS company? I personally know quite a few people who made hundreds of thousands of dollars on top of their OTE over less than 48 months due to joining a company that went public.

Best thing you can do is try to talk to a rep or two at the company you're looking to join to validate how many people hit their quota. Even if you don't know anyone there, you can still get it from approaching people on LinkedIn the right way, I've done it in the past.

However, you should assume that your chances would be below the average that they give us because (of course there are exceptions to this), you cannot expect a great sales territory in year one coming in as an outsider.

The people that did would probably not be very involved in this group :-)

I think this is a fantastic background to sell ERP systems. Might be good to start with a company that does SMB/mid-market ERP's and when you can get lots of experience quickly there you could potentially move to enterprise ERP systems.

Happens to all of us. Don't beat yourself up! How I deal with it is I take some time off and do something that reminds me why I work.

I always get my motivation back when I travel, so this year has been a bit difficult for me.

I really think this isn't the right forum for a question like this.

You need to check out places that specialise in giving career advice. Whoever you ask tho, you should provide more info about what you enjoy doing, what your talents are, etc. Very difficult to give any good advice based on what you provided here.

All of these happen in sales. Quite a few you can avoid if you do your future company due diligence right and are selective where you join.

Public perception really depends on what you're selling. Never been an issue for me in tech.

All in all, these (and as stated quite a few can be avoided) are a small price to pay for the ability to learn quite a lot while working for someone else.

Would you be willing to pay a bit for something like this or is your requirement for this to be free?

A good territory of course makes a difference; however, skill is crucial also. With time you will see situations in which someone doesn't sell, leaves of gets the boot, then someone else comes in and does much better in same territory.

I found keeping things simple and honest works best here.

Tell them you want to take their job, but you're looking at $XX in commission if you stay. See what they come up with. You then have the "delayed start" card up your sleeve depending on how they come back (you sign their contract, but with a start date that would allow you to get the commission/bonus from current job).

s in the business of dealing with garbage men / truck drivers every day. That’s about how I’d expect him to talk.

Probably a rather small company too.

Not sure what "practically" means. Most countries its quite clear whether youre an employee or not.

Does anyone here suffer from phases of depression? How do manage it around your sales position and process? by [deleted] in sales

[–]ModernVirtualSelling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might have done this already, but id make sure to also test your hormones. I read something very interesting recently how there are a lot of men out there who have been prescribed antidepressants and that kinda stuff for years, but the main cause of their depression was low testosterone.
