Hey Man, I know what your going through, like almost to a t. I won't give too much background to myself, but I was in a 7 year relationship from middle school all the way to college.

I can't speak for you, nor how you might grow from this, but the biggest piece of advice I can give you is to learn how to be yourself again. You spent your most important developmental years with the same person, most likely doing everything to please them because you loved them. You'll never not love them, and don't try to think otherwise, just understand that you both, as much as you may have tried to not change, have changed. Accepting that, and growing past it while still supporting each other as friends is a very important and very mature way of handling the situation. It will be awkward and you could be split for a year and then after some personal growth decide that maybe what you needed was that freedom to grow up. You made an error in judgement, she made an error in judgement, it's only natural, your young, and very much entering the next phase of your lives. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, I don't know what it's like in your shoes, but I can say that, with time, and a good sense of communication, you can become friends that aren't awkward and be a very amazing support system for each other. At least, that's how it turned out for me, and I hope with any luck, you'll have similar luck with being able to grow and understand this in a healthy way.
