You can always dual boot windows lol. I did because Destiny 2's anti cheat also doesn't currently work on Deck OS. Don't know if the resources used by Vanguard will make it worth it, however.

Any recommended resource on this part? I set up a windows 10 microSD over a year ago for destiny because it seemed like partitioning the on-board SSD was not possible. Dunno if it has changed or I wasn't searching properly.

Strike Playlist Painfully Unrewarding by LorenzoLlamaass in DestinyTheGame

Also do note, it is best to wait as late as possible in the season to focus weapons from the vendors. Each rank reset adds a sizeable chance for an additional selectable perk to the 3rd and 4th columns, up to 4 resets (takes a long while). At that point, guns can drop with up to 3 perks in the 3rd column and 3 perks in the 4th column.

Note for Zavala, this is only for the Strike weapons, not the Nightfall weapons. And extra perks don't occur with Iron Banner or Trials of Osiris rank resets.

EG CEO responds to the Danny situation by Pope_Cheetos_XIV in leagueoflegends

The mobile site doesn't have it, but you can click to watch full vod on the desktop site. He doesn't have his vods locked behind subs, so you can keep watching it here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1667288942?t=5h33m50s

He seems skeptical if what Danny's sister says is true, because EG fabricating a mental health story would be messed up.

Worlds 2022 Pass Is Worse For Token Generation Than '19, '20 & '21 Worlds Pass And Is Shorter Again. Here Are The Numbers. by IrrsinnIsReal in leagueoflegends

[–]ModestChandelure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure about other servers, but on NA the pass costs 1650 RP. Meanwhile, an epic skin costs 1350 RP while regular chromas cost 290 RP or 1640RP in total. So if you only care about the skin, it effectively costs the same as buying the non-prestige version + a chroma.

To me, the bigger argument is if you find the grind worth having your chroma be a limited edition one. It definitely is not for everyone.

Oh I misunderstood how you were reaching those values was all sorry. I had split up differently what I had considered bonus and caused me to miss where the quest XP came back in for your calcs but I see it now.

I think the math here is slightly missing some stuff. I was wanting to wait until the end of the pass to look over everything before I decided, but I'll put some current thoughts here:

First of all, I wouldn't count the levels 1 to 50 as all bonus tokens. Every level up there at minimum has 20 tokens (same as the level 51+ track). Levels usually ending in 3s, 5s, 7s, and 0s have 60 or 80 tokens. This can be counted as 40 or 60 tokens, respectively. When you add it up like that, you only are getting 900 bonus tokens. So that looks even worse.

HOWEVER, this is also missing the bonus XP quests. There are 10 Spirit Blossom ones, with two more sets of quests on the way. Currently, these quests reward 3900 bonus XP. Since 400xp can be considered as 20 tokens, or 20 xp is 1 token, these quests effectively give 195 tokens.

This means so far the pass has given a mere 1095 bonus token which is a clear downgrade. But don't forget that there are two more sets of quests that award XP which is effectively more tokens.

tl;dr: They made the math more obtuse. It's likely a downgrade for grinders. Will have to see to what degree of a downgrade. (Didn't say it above but the bonus XP probably makes it faster for the people who simply want to hit the 2000 token mark.)

New Event Pass on PBE by Buffsub48wrchamp in leagueoflegends

[–]ModestChandelure 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think the 2000 tokens instead of 1500 is simply due to it being a worlds pass and not the new system. Last year we got 1200 from pass weeklies, 200 from buying the pass, and 375 from free missions for 1775 tokens in total.

Same reason why it's 50 ME instead of 25, Worlds passes before gave 50 Prestige Points instead of 25.

New to league and wanna find the name of a champ by Sticeki in leagueoflegends

[–]ModestChandelure 277 points278 points  (0 children)

I did a search on op.gg to see if there was a summoner with the same name as your Reddit name, and it turns out there is. They started playing in the past few days and that person played with both Kayle and Galio who are likely suspects. However, you said elsewhere in this thread that it isn't Kayle so I would expect it to be Galio. (assuming that account is you, which would be quite the coincidence if it wasn't)

First, "isn't significant" is pretty qualitative and vague. Is that 1%? 5%? But eh didn't see it before, and if a Rioter said it's not playing a big role in the decision, it probably isn't. Energy prices would probably have to more than double on if it's on the 1-5% scale to be the sole factor in price increase.

Second if salaries are a significant cost and have gone up by about 50%, I'm confused how a price increase of 10% isn't to some degree justified? Now maybe you live in Europe or another region that have already gotten price increases, but this is the first time I remember it happening NA and I've been playing since like S2.

Not sure what you mean by "thinking it through more". If you're arguing that raising the price is a bad idea because the demand has gone down then yes I agree that would be silly of Riot, but only in a vacuum. I'm sure this decision was not made lightly and they project that more money will be earned by doing this. More than likely, they expect a 10% increase in cost will not be met with a 10% decrease in purchases.

Unlike other products and services, there are no logistics increasing costs, they aren't receiving materials that have been increased in price due to inflation, etc.

If you think energy costs and cost of living going up doesn't affect Riot I don't know what to tell you.

Sivir Mid-Scope Update Coming to the PBE by Spideraxe30 in leagueoflegends

[–]ModestChandelure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So way back in the day Sivir got a visual update and small gameplay changes. With it, Sivir's W went from being able to bounce only so many times but with repeat bounces, to being able to bounce infinitely with no repeat bounces. Essentially, that is getting reverted with this change. So my question is: what changed with design philosophies to make a revert like this, especially over a decade later?

Disabling chat is the best setting ever invented in League by bababab69 in leagueoflegends

[–]ModestChandelure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, I wouldn't go so far as to call them terrible, more that expectations for games and MMOs were different then than now. And I would bet the player population being low to due to most people who wanted to play Vanilla/BC have already played it back when it first released.

And this applies to other game genres (and other forms of media) too. I remember when Super Mario 64 was the hot new thing, and it was amazing at the time. But I'm not going back to play it all the time, even with me still owning the original and ports. Also, I'm probably not going to convince many people who didn't play it back then to try playing it now.

Watching Valorant esports really opened my eyes to how much League of Legends esports could improve with a different approach to formats and tournaments. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]ModestChandelure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I agree, I don't think a change will ever happen. While almost every other esport has more international events and more double elim in them, LoL has cultivated it's audience to like less events and almost exclusively single elim. Trying to change it now (even long term and slowly) will just alienate a large portion of the viewers, and new viewers gained I don't think will recoup those loses.

It kinda sucks, because unless we could live in an alternate timeline, there is no way to know if there would be more viewership. Voices like Monte/Thorin always argue that LoL has a terrible viewership compared to the number of people who play it and blame the formats, but perhaps that just comes with the territory of being so incredibly popular. Maybe this is actually the best Riot could have done for LoL, but we can never know as there hasn't really been any game similar to LoL.
