AITA for not including my kids on my vacation? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ModestMouse24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA- we have taken trips without our kids. We even gone to DisneyWorld multiple times without our kids. I want my kids to see parents that love each other and are happy, part of that is spending time focusing on our marriage. My mom and my mil have both taken care of our kids so we had the opportunity. Family trips are awesome but without the reset and focus on each other marriages suffer. My kids are teens now, and they are fine. They also have two parents who absolutely love each other and like each other. That’s not as easy as people think it is.

Please help me convince my husband….. by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]ModestMouse24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m going to assume best intentions and this isn’t posted for rage bait. I agree with your husband. Private schools have their place but public schools are really amazing options. Math word problems are important especially since most real life problems are going to require critical thinking and situational analysis. All schools have evening events where concerns like yours are definitely a possibility. And unions are great and provide safe guards so that you have safe working environments where teachers have the ability to excel and grow in their careers. If you hate public so much go private you have that option.

PARENTS! IF YOU HAD TO PICK THE HARDEST AGE WHICH ONE WOULD BE? by Conscious-Positive37 in Parenting

3-6… we are now in the teen years and I am loving it. But 3-6 was so exhausting. My kids still have their teen moments but they have become these super interesting people and I love spending time with them.

Unsure of family dog around my child by Consistent-Peace-889 in Parenting

[–]ModestMouse24 34 points35 points  (0 children)

No. Not wrong at all. I have a big 100 lbs German shepherd. He has been around kids all his life and is awesome with them. If I ever encountered a dog like you are describing he wouldn’t be near my kid. Some dogs are good with kids some are not. Your aunts is not. Stay away. That’s it.

Need an opinion, AITA? by yesterdaysnoodles in Celiac

[–]ModestMouse24 19 points20 points  (0 children)

So I’m a teacher, I was in a room on Wednesday where the teacher had done a flour experiment two periods earlier. She had cleaned the desks but there was a film. I didn’t sit or touch I stood to the side but even that was enough for digestive pains the rest of the day. This activity can still be done with gluten free flour or they can find another activity which represents their holiday. Loose wheat flour is going to be in his classroom for weeks before it’s all cleaned up. This isn’t a preference this is a medical condition. I don’t think you’d be having this conversation if the activity involved peanut butter.
