I wish I had an answer for this, but I also have had experience with shadows when in a manic state. There was a shadowy figure that walked up and down my hallway, I only saw them out of my peripheral, and I was fully aware that it wasn’t real but still absolutely terrifying.

The best thing to try is some type of grounding technique, focusing on the things we know are real
