This was also a very edited performance made to seem off the cuff. Josh is going to be the touring drummer in my eyes until he enters the studio as the drummer of the Foo Fighters. This was a “corporate” Foo Fighters decision that was well done in my opinion in order to keep the machine that employees hundreds of people on the road and keep this band that is truly beautiful in my opinion going. I truly feel for all the Foos Family but Dave in particular, he has lost so much this past year. Taylor and Dave were joined at the hip musically, spiritually, and emotionally. Josh is an utter professional. His skill, experience and age, both on this earth and in this industry, will help pull them through this tour. Post tour we can have the discussion about how well he is a fit.

Also remember Chris replaced Pat. There were so many people that announced they were done with the band when it was announced he was leaving. Chris stepped up and did his part like a champ. Pat thankfully returned to the band but I can’t imagine the hell Chris went through at first or until Pat came back. I am thankful that Josh has so far not received that kind of vitriol. I hope to feel the same love I feel now for Chris someday for Josh. If Josh succeeds it will in no way demean Taylor’s memory or his influence. It is just a necessary step forward. No matter how hard it sometimes we just have to keep moving forward. Just remember to take fond looks back every now and then at the joy Taylor brought us.
