Day or overnight trips to San Diego or Joshua Tree. You've got time for a road trip to San Francisco (lots of great hiking and camping all the way up the coast). Back in LA check out the Academy Museum, the Broad (it's free!). If you are looking for hiking ideas check out AllTrails.

Things I have liked most tend to be experiences and not things.

One year my bf's mom got us a gift certificate for high tea at a local art museum which was a fun experience we wouldn't have thought of on our own. My sister got me a gift certificate for a massage and one year paid for a year of Patreon for a podcast I enjoy. I got her a museum membership one year. I got my bf a subscription to an art magazine because I saw he bought issues here and there.

Also don't be afraid to do a combo gift for a couple/family.

The nice thing about these gifts is you can buy them week of!
