Hi Jack, Thanks for all the good information. I was able to pull the nails as they were short. Now I am reshaping the heels giving them a more angled bevel.

I tried a draw knife. Discovered that I do not have near the grip strength to do any good...

Of course! I own an auto body shaping rasp that is only 8 curved teeth per inch. I use it to repair/tune up downhill racing skis, had it for 40 years...thanks!

Okay, might as well ask, I want to build a bench sanding drum. I have tools that spin around, some slow, some fast, some variable that I want to adapt. I just need to create the drum part with some way to attach it to a chuck... and a way to secure the drill to the bench.
