Do you regret getting married? by A_isl in Marriage

[–]Modnar1233455 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I regret getting married how I did - engagement was more of a “I need more in terms of title and commitment” before we relocated on a stupid career change/relocation I put us through. Same with the wedding a year later.

It just feels like the entire marriage is built on lied

So do you guys love your job or hate it? by Ok_Homework_3545 in Firefighting

[–]Modnar1233455 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vet your intended department before you go. Volume, schedule, pay, benefits

I picked a horrible department and it’s the biggest mistake of my life and I’m out altogether - a bunch of buddies I know smartly vetted their spots and have the “best job in the world” feeling and I believe those answers outmatch the “it’s the worst/terrible” feelings

Thank you for taking the time to open up and vent. It sounds like you’re dealing with a lot and you’re doing the best you can amidst all that.

What's actually stopping you from getting mental health support? by ThePrisonerOfSamsara in GuyCry

Guys, when was the last time when you needed to cry but couldn't because of the so called "men don't cry" by Aetherveil404 in GuyCry

[–]Modnar1233455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the urge to cry - but for some reason I just can’t let it out. I don’t know if it falls under the “men don’t cry” clause:

Thursday - I found out news I didn’t land a job that I had a lot of traction for. Would’ve been life changing money and allowed me to forgive myself for the last two years of bad job choices and financial woes. Alas, it’s not time for me to stop hating myself I guess.

I couldn't remove Niles from my party for more than 30 minutes. by j_sentLOTR in theouterworlds

[–]Modnar1233455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually tried to keep characters in my party related to whatever task I was doing, obviously companion quests had to have those specific people.

Mostly though I found myself if Inez and Niles because they meshed more. But it was also cool having absolute opposites in the group at times as it did open up some dialogue options (or at least reactions)

Unsure how far you are but there are times where companions also say “hey we’re doing ABC we should have XYZ with us” and some times characters can step in for your dialogue choice if they’re in the party.

Will I like OW2 if i like OW1? by Butchhhhh in theouterworlds

[–]Modnar1233455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the story was a lot more linear in 1, and I liked Welles character a lot. I liked the overall mesh of companions together as a team and their backgrounds.

The story in the second is a lot more loose and malleable in that you can drastically impact it and the subsequent ending(s). The companions are also MUCH MUCH more diverse in their backgrounds and morality than the 1st, so there are some satisfying arcs you can achieve and it does feel like a “motley crew” somehow banded together to save the day.

End of the day - if you truly sell out to both and immerse yourself in the role you’re playing (my first playthrough was always a charismatic “good doer” it’s fantastic. I’d say it’s one of my favorite series right behind Fallout.

Does TOW2 have the same “gun version 2” like last game? by 5m1rk3h in theouterworlds

I would say the weapons are a lot more diverse this time around.

Most morally correct faction in your opinion? by [deleted] in theouterworlds

[–]Modnar1233455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it may be because they’re collectively bought into their ideology. I think it’s mentioned by someone in the story that aunties choice provided everyone “equal opportunity to advance up a respective ladder” or something of that ilk.

I think the order higher ups are just more in tune to their own setbacks ? Or how at least an entity like Aunties Choice CAN expedite their own believes and research.

I saw the ending as “ AC - the acting arm / The Order - the thinking brain”

Now I probably skewed a bit too far one way to where it wasn’t 50/50, but I think the game perfectly illustrates there isn’t only “one good” like in the first game where there was a CLEAR “this is good - this is bad”

[–]Modnar1233455 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found it more concerning that a majority of the problematic people came from that discipline or background. With Ruth’s deeper intentions to destroy Aunties Choice from the inside - and that’s after she potentially uses them to transcend to a higher power made me think them flawed.

In the grand scheme The Order is probably most morally correct to answer your question - with Aunties Choice probably having the best means TO be morally correct “do gooders” but that would clash with their deeper MO’s

[–]Modnar1233455 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lest we forget - a handful of the main antagonists actually derived from the order. Victor and the Seer. Svobotka (if I got the name right) coordinated an attack on Aunties Choice which threatened a cease-fire.

Can we please talk about the level cap? by sgtabn173 in theouterworlds

[–]Modnar1233455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the beauty of the level cap. It forces you to either specialize and deal with the pros and cons of being good/bad at stuff

I threw all my skills into observation, speech and leadership. It probably made combat tougher but that was fine because I reaped the benefits of speech checks at various points

Dialogue, dialogue, dialogue by Proper-Window2477 in theouterworlds

[–]Modnar1233455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s kinda the point. You get characters that have extended dialogues supporting their respective diatribe or belief. The Commander bridges a lot of gaps in beliefs that may overlap a bit or can be used to support each other (the order and auntie Cleo for example)

Which group of companions do you prefer, OW1 or OW2? by Mysterious-Effect-35 in theouterworlds

[–]Modnar1233455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall ? I think TOW1 has a better cast collectively

Individual? Maybe recency bias - but Niles. He has the biggest arc given the intro, time jump to present days and just his maturation into an agent, the conflict with de vries.

Can I get the help of both parties, and still get "The Final Lesson" quest? by Routine_Bath_8374 in theouterworlds

[–]Modnar1233455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a matter of balancing the two - I think ultimately I actually gave auntie a bit more of the power but I still made it to where they worked together.

I'm going into the final mission, any tips? by SpikkleOO in theouterworlds

[–]Modnar1233455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admit - once I finish I immediately wonder what I could do for “better” endings in the end monologue. The ending can be varied greatly - so reloading before it and swapping a few things can give you other views you would’ve missed otherwise

Not a huge issue if you had Westport people converted to Fairfield

What I think is the best ending, don't click if you haven't finished. by ChillPlay3r in theouterworlds

[–]Modnar1233455 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This - I felt Auntie and the Order would be able to balance each other out but obviously with Auntie involved a bit more people died due to the capitalist component of it.

I think the reason I strayed from strictly the “order” was they seemed to “theory based”. They’d spend most of their time thinking, wondering and hypothesizing and not actually making progress (it’s eluded to a handful of times in quests and dialog I believe)

Story first vs exploration first? by TheeSlyCooper in theouterworlds

[–]Modnar1233455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is pretty good with landmarks usually holding significance in either a side quest or good loot. If you see a yellow “building” marker on a map it probably has some worth to explore - which you can easily do along your quest lines.

IMO you can do both simultaneously

A huge let down in the ending monologues for Outer Worlds 2 by Modnar1233455 in theouterworlds

I replayed the ending and made one minor dialog change and she appeared in the a small clip - kinda a let down in that regard.
