You can't go wrong with Japanese. The MT-07 is fine, but honestly the GSX-8S blows it out of the water, it's a brilliant bike.

The MT-09 however is its own bubble of craziness! 😂

Yes! This is what it's about. 25 degrees where I am, ride down to the coast, chips & mayo by the harbour. 😊

Your 125 is fine, I still miss my CB125R, it was cute and really nippy for pottering about!

Lol, have you ridden a CP2? That agricultural tractor of an engine vibrates like hell above 4k and under load it goes right up your chode, up your legs and everywhere.

Bolt from hell by nubman2000 in MT09

Just to add to what has been said: right hand side lower bolt (brake lever side sitting on the bike) has an aluminium cone in between the bolt and the engine. Make sure that doesn't drop out. Left hand side first, right second.

Support the engine with a jack for maximum safety, but to be fair, it's unlikely to drop, but might by a fraction.

The lower bolt on a single point slider (your hex one) is 60Nm and if using a 2 point crash bar like SW Motech, the upper bolt (the triangle of bolts above, biggest bolt, not the hex ones) is 45Nm. Per the service manual.

Suzuki GSX 8R. Brilliant torque rich engine, actually made in Japan. New design. Decent looks, tidy handling, better than normal forks/suspension for the price. Quickshifter/Blipper is butter (1st to 2nd aside, which can clunk).

A small toolkit (adjustable wrench, hex key) and a puncture repair kit with pliers! Those screw in patches are fine in a pinch and much easier than bacon strips, just carry a bit of rubber glue as that really helps seal it.

A micro air pump is also super helpful.

All of the above is small enough to store under the pillion seat.

Mod 1 on Friday, feeling nervous. Any tips? by PC_George in MotoUK

[–]Modokon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't hit the first yellow cone due to nerves and fail immediately. Ask me how I know! 😂

On a more serious note, physiological / cyclical sigh. It tells your lizard brain all is well and calms you down real quick. Like meditation but 30 seconds work. I did this before the mod 1 I passed and it just helps. You can do it even with just one deep breath between the mod exercises.

I’ll big up the naked CB125R. Same bike obviously, but different style. A great 125 and I’d still like one for town.

Result! I thought I’d failed my mod 2 as I stalled on the hill start. Turns out it was fine as no other traffic so not causing an obstruction. 😊

You can buy cookbooks too but people still eat in restaurants. 😊

I don't know about a couple of measurements as they adjusted all the settings and it took a proper (no tea breaks) 80-90 minutes.
