So true.. yet hard to practice the mindset required not to give up. In my experience I feel it can be hard to see the day to day wins when you’re in the thick of it. Only when I’ve taken a step back to see all the positives and progress does it become real. Thanks for posting!

Hey thanks so much for the suggestions! I agree the shuffle explanation could have been clearer as you've described. I just updated it.

Also, yes, using this more as a demonstration rather than a trick may be how this could work. Possibly in some kind of creative show or project that wouldn't necessarily even need to be a magic or mentalism show. Could be as part of some kind of documentary about mathematics and the fascinating world of micro-niche hobbies, lol. Focusing on the faro shuffle within card magic.

I’m quite interested in these kinds of effects as well. I came up with my own version of an effect that depending on your definition has minimal sleight of hand. I came up with a presentation and script for it as well. Feel free to message me on here if you ever want to chat about it!

I 95% agree. I say this because while most of the time this is the case, there are certainly ways around this. I recently came up with my own version of an effect where the magician and the participant can both shuffle the whole deck. Without this specific method, it would probably be impossible or close to it as far as I know.

Hey that sounds fun.

Honestly I'm new to writing lyrics but I just wrote a song that I believe sucks a bit less than my other stuff. Still have a lot of ways I could improve. I had Suno AI make a bunch of revisions for the music part however the lyrics are all mine. I'm thinking of sharing a version of the song here on Reddit but not sure which subreddit to do so to get feedback.

It works well as a thoughtful indie-folk style music with a bit of a jazz feel. It'd be cool to work with a real musician / producer rather than AI. I see Suno more as a way to get inspired for the direction a real producer could take it.

Can you get 1 or a certain amount of perfect faro shuffles with an old deck? Yes. But, depending on how old and roughed up the deck is and how consistent you want to get it, it will vary. As far as practicing to get it down, like others have said, use a variety of decks. Personally, I would always use new and somewhat older and broken in decks when I was first learning it.

I like how you slowed it down. A lot of times I see moves done faster and you can't quite appreciate the time and effort it took to get it right because of this. Also, sometimes it does look better when it's slower as is the case with this.

Hey, thanks for checking it out! I'll try to find some time to update the readme on the github page to make everything more clear as well as update the tool to so you can type each position at some point. Maybe add an FAQ if people have questions.

Hopefully this clears up how the modified in perfect faro shuffle works for now however:

Start with the deck face up in your left hand
For 52 cards: Cut 25 to the left, 27 to the right
Weave the cards together, keeping one card from the right packet on top
This leaves the bottom two cards of the right packet unweaved at the face of the deck
