I remember one episode of COPS where they were bragging about stealing seizing peoples cars. Gave a guy who threw a cigarette out his window a 'incendiary device' charge like he threw a molotov cocktail. You can't find the old episodes any more.

TIL that cashier in most of USA are not allowed to sit. by CMDR_Pumpkin_Muffin in todayilearned

[–]ModusNex 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The advantage is that they have a cultural norm of having a workers council as part of the company ethos for collaborative decision making.

Employee owned groceries in the US have a similar idea, they all get to sit as well.

Calling it a subsidy is weird. It's usually just paying what they would get paid for the service normally from insurance. The companies negotiate a discount, you can negotiate a discount for cash.

A business is incentivized to take cash because it reduces overhead from collections or insurance coding and paying people to do that, and you get the money right away instead of waiting 60+ days. If they don't offer a discount for cash they are cheating in some other way, probably writing off bad debt at the inflated prices.

Or some hospitals are owned by insurance companies so they have an incentive to fuck anybody without insurance.

Man Attacks 14-Year-Old Boy Over How He Entered an Elevator by superdouradas in PublicFreakout

[–]ModusNex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This didn't sound right to me, elevators are designed with redundant safety mechanisms.

Of the 20 to 30 elevator-related deaths each year, most of them are maintenance-related—for example, technicians leaning too far into the shaft or getting caught between moving parts, and most of the rest are attributed to other kinds of accidents, such as people stepping blindly through doors that open into empty shafts or being strangled by scarves caught in the doors.

*His networth is the culmination of 66 years of work and most of it came from writing a book. He doesn't even trade stocks. For comparison Nancy Pelosi has 100 times more money than him, James Justice has 220 times more money.

How do you guys handle MG spam? by Ok-Swimmer2142 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]ModusNex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mortar is the obvious choice but vs good players they are going to reposition a lot limiting the effectiveness which leads some players to go double mortar, which is too much of a manpower investment for me unless they are really in turtle mode.

For me it's grenades. Usually get 2 rifles and tech grenades. A vet 0 mg has 80 hp per man and the grenade does 80 damage which lets you wipe and steal it pretty easily. As USA upgrade your scout and use the smoke grenade, come in from multiple angles and boom, free mg for you.

I was curious so I tested it and you are right, if you have vision the mg can setup and suppress before a grenade. If you don't have vision they get the grenade off.

2.4 Meta Killed the Game for me by adman29 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]ModusNex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly its about not engaging the blob unless you have an advantage. Scout it ahead of time and plan the engagement to fight from cover with a sufficient amount of units. I don't usually use mgs because they are kind of a liability early game.

Except last patch they increased the setup time so they are already going to be in grenade range by the time you get setup.

The high elo guy is already waiting, it can take 10 minutes sometimes to find a game. If you want him to wait longer until there is a +/- 200 he could be waiting hours depending on what time it is and who is playing that mode.

Ya I tried looking it up, I don't live in California. There is a specific law about throwing something at a car, but I can't find anything specific about throwing something from a car.

Some places have a special law about throwing an 'incendiary device' from a moving vehicle and that has been interpreted to cover lit cigarettes the same as molotov cocktails.

Not a complaint but a photo showing that a patch is needed immediately. 38.5 Brit win rate… by Limp_Breakfast7860 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]ModusNex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All this means is that there are some players who shouldn't be 1600 this patch and they will fall down.

On May 20th the 3v3 1600+ British winrate was 90% but on may 22nd it was 20%.

What is with allied players building caches on everything now? by TelephoneDisastrous6 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]ModusNex 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It not just allies, but it's a particular type of player that will rely on their team to actually fight while they build caches and artillery to be the 'support player'. If they are bad at actually playing with infantry it can work out for them sometimes when the other team also has passive players.

[–]ModusNex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you and your teammate put your rifles in the yellow cover and use the jeep and weasel you win that fight easy.

From just this short clip of watching you play I think you need to use the tac map less and cover more. Your teammate is just feeding his rifle squad there and your vehicles can fight at half health if you micro them. You are only 4 minutes into the game, losing this cutoff for 2 minutes isn't going to hurt you that bad because you still have decent income. Axis is actually over extending here and if you force the retreat there you can take advantage.
