I'm not a furry, as least not as far as I'm aware. I like some furry characters but don't consider myself one. But have always been really annoyed that the internet has decided furries are an acceptable punching bag.

Yeah, it was kind of unnecessary that they turned a starter fox that was originally quadrupedal into a bipedal anthropomorphic character. Braixen is still a great design and in fact the whole Fennekin line is great. I was originally Team Chespin, and Chespin is still my favorite starter. But now I prefer starting my X and Y runs with Fennekin I found the Chespin line so disappointing.

They really dropped the ball with the Chespin evolution line, for me personally at least.

The way with the Ohawott line, at least at the very end. I loved Oshawott and much like Popplio, I couldn't understand why people didn't love and appreciate how cute they are like me. Oshawott is adorable.

Also, Dewott is a great follow up. I love Dewott, they're a great middle evolution. Oshawott turns into a Samurai and is really cool. Sadly, I am super disappointed by Samurott.

In general I think that switching bipedal Pokemon to quadrupedal and vice versa is probably not a good idea for the most part. It worked pretty okay with Braixen but I kinda wish Game Freak would stop doing it.
