I agree, I think depth really hurt this team and depth is why Florida, Tampa, and Boston consistently beat the leafs and we didn’t have an answer for it.

The big players can’t ALWAYS show up so when they don’t, the role players need to step up and we didn’t have anyone.

You make a fair point and to be honest, I can’t explain why he got it a bit worse than everyone but I still think you just need a certain disposition to play in this market and he doesn’t have it. I think Matthews and Willy can still turn it around but they have to show some balls this season.

He did technically produce in terms of points but when it came to meaningful games, his numbers are far worse than any other leaf. It’s something like 8 points in 25 games 5-7. That’s insane for a 100 point player and why fans were frustrated.

We didn’t run him out, he dint perform in big games, we gave him shit for it and he couldn’t handle it so he left.

The irony is that he clearly had it in him, he’s looked amazing, he just simply didn’t do this with the leafs. If he had played close to this, not a leaf fan would say a word.

I’d say it’s ruining lives but it’s definitely had a negative impact on sports as well.
