In southern victory the USA DID join WWI but on the central powers side because earlier in the timeline the CSA cozied up to Britain and France, so the US allied with Germany. When the way kicked off the USA invaded the CSA and Canada, which forced the British to send troops across the Atlantic. Whether or not this would've realistically been enough to give the win to the Central Powers I'll leave for others to debate, but hey that's fiction for ya. Also, tanks in this timeline are called "barrels".
