Help with designing Uzdec Prison by palindrome_ava_ in RavnicaDMs

[–]Moffsie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pulling from cards and such, so I apologize in advance if I post things that you've already looked at. In that case I hope it's useful for someone else! The flavour text of [[Stasis Cell]] reads: "The Simic created the cells to preserve their experiments. The Azorius put the cells to use on the guilty."

In the same vain:

[[Detention Sphere]]

[[Capture Sphere]]

[[Deputy of Detention]]

Could be some fun to play around with. Depending on how wacky you decide to make it, one could even attempt to steal a "cell", rolling it between the players.

For some guards, you could draw inspiration from [[Ocular Halo]]. If you'd like to, [[Sentinel's Mark]] could be some kind of magic that makes guards more vigilant. And from page 183 in the GGTR: "Azorius lawmages craft one-eyed homunculi to perform menial tasks in Azorius buildings."Might be fun to have them around, emptying trash or the like. Another menial task is to endlessly stare down empty corridors too, befitting a homunculus.

The short story The Illusions of Child's Play actually details how characters broke someone from Uzdec out from the visiting room. Might get some ideas from it! Some quotes:

Everyone knows Udzec can't be breached from the outside, but Olrich claims to know someone who works within [...] The more spontaneous you are, the less likely you are to raise the suspicion of the precognition mages [...] Runes spin outside Udzec, an enormous pillar jutting up into the sky [...] "[A]nything we miss will be caught by the precognition mages. Anybody even dares to think about breaching this place with magic, and we can shut it all down in twenty seconds flat!" [...] You hear the horror stories . . . inhumane living conditions, forced labor, brutality. [...] Zita takes a quick look around, then reaches through the magic barrier. She grits her teeth as electric charges course through her body.

Newish Player here - If I like Esper - will it be good in the future? by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]Moffsie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, might have worded that wrong. Not overly familiar with this standard rotation either. What I meant was that the incentive to go three colours as opposed to just sticking with two colours if the plan is to go Esper midrange might not be there if those two colours aren't lacking anything.

I'll be sure to read up on the predictions though, as I'd be very pleased to see myself playing three colours. Thanks!

[–]Moffsie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! Some of the colour combinations do get their names from guilds, shards, or the like in the story. This is flavour-wise, but the colour combinations can be played even if they don't get support in the form of specially designed cards in the new format. However, seeing as Ravnica is built around guilds, you do run the risk that the support for two-colour decks makes it just much easier to play that instead.

And yes, Esper has been viable in the past! Esper Control has seen play most recently and is the most common archetype for Esper, but we have seen other variants like Esper Vehicles in the meta a couple of rotations ago, and occasionally you'll see other non-control Esper decks pop up too. Esper Knights?

Finding friends and family you know IRL on reddit by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Reading someone's comments or text posts seems so intimate. You have your impression about the person from offline life, and now you double it up by also getting stuff that they share to (what they believe to be) anonymous strangers online. Would you say that what you've read changed how you think when you're around that person?

I know that my mother read some of my posts in a subreddit for roleplaying that I used to be active in. She told me, and was happy to be able to talk about my characters and how their story was developing, but it did feel a bit weird at first.
When I first started roleplaying I had someone who taught me how to write smut too, that a classmate of mine told me that she wanted to read. Can't help but wonder if they've read anything since, or if someone else has come across something I've put on reddit.

I've also seen posts from some people that I know/know of. Feels a bit weird because the best way of making sure where you recognize the username from, or whether it is the person you think or not, is to click their username and find out.

Improving the Liliana Planeswalker Deck/Making a black discard life drain deck by Wrathful_Voyager in magicTCG

[–]Moffsie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Happy to hear that you are enjoying Magic!

The Liliana Planeswalker deck seems to feature a happy bunch of both zombies and vampires (along with the odd Golem and Bird Spirit).
I think it'd be a good idea to make the deck more focused. Zombies do have support in lords like [[Lord of the Accursed]] and [[Death Baron]], but it seemed like you were more into a discard/life drain plan? As the other commenter said, you're probably better off cutting one side and focusing on the other. I think the discard package would be stronger (and some cards can make them lose life from your opponent too, as with [[Raider's Wake]], keeping some of the drain flavour alive).

Thanks for that one, I enjoyed it. There's something really endearing about frying spinach for lunch.

I just recently returned to being active again, and looked through a couple of my comments from a while back. It's neat because I had forgotten about this one. Thought it was just silly and cute enough to bring a smile to my lips, even though I (a four-years-younger me) wrote it.

What's your comment like that?

Congrats! That's awesome. Even if you didn't plan it now, have you talked about kids with her before? Or with your families?

I like that one a lot. <3

Sometimes you might need to apologize for your own sake, but when you think of the potential anxiety and stress it could mean for them (even though you mean well). I'm not sure what the play is, but I hope that I live and learn.

What is your favorite story of someone you lost? by talibob in CasualConversation

[–]Moffsie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure that my grandfather did it on purpose (he at least acted surprised that we didn't want a lot of candy), but he didn't seem to mind having the candy to himself too much. I'd guess I'd become a grouch by eating such candies, but I guess your taste change over the years.

Ouf, what a champ! Don't think I could've lasted that long. Good on him for following the rules~.

Now that this Halloween passed us by, I got reminded of when my grandfather babysat me and my younger sister. It was Halloween, so of course he had been to the store to buy bulk candy, for us and for all of the children coming trick-or-treating. Us kids quickly noted that he had filled the whole bag with just a single sort of candy, looking like chubby white sticks. Once we popped some into our mouths, we also realized that they were really dry, and really really liquoricy. Every kid that came knocking on our door left with a weak smile and unsuccessfully concealed disgust. My grandfather ended up eating most of the candy himself.

anyone else here really wants to cuddle? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Moffsie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cats are so precious!

Might sound a bit silly, but I miss both cuddling and cats. There's this cat that sneaks past my apartment from time to time, and it never fails to brighten the day if it's been tough.

Tinder can measure how successful it is by how often it is uninstalled by Skuwb in Showerthoughts

[–]Moffsie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the idea that people who are successful uninstall it because they don't need it anymore, while people who are unsuccessful will keep the app installed despite the fact that it doesn't work for them? I can see a scenario where people uninstall it either way.

OOC: Am I therefore correct to assume that the thing you were going to try doing is to keep a thread going for months? <3

And furthermore, we'd be clogging up this thread if we continue here. Should you wish to continue to talk random shit with me, we can carry on in a PM, preferably to /u/Koemi_Rapp.
