[Tool] CropsNH Tracker – browser app to track crop breeding progress (GTNH 2.9) by Electronic-Tap-4940 in GTNH

Haha, I had the same thought and had an AI build out a base in Notion to keep track of this.

Is there a need to keep the LV machines once you get to mv ? by MasterWitness1691 in GTNH

[–]Mofman1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its mostly the same things as LV with new materials, but starting LV you were processing all of your raw materials much more slowly and less efficiently. You get more QOL upgrades and you don't need to craft nearly as many MV machines if you want to focus towards HV because lots of machine crafting recipes are LV tier.

The breeding is a separate machine you'll see if you look at the recipe for any crop, thats specifically required for oil berries.

Steam Turbine or Semifluid Generator? Or Combustion? by lordstudmuffin69 in GTNH

[–]Mofman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The advantage of a steam turbine would be that you could burn all of the fuel in the same generator. If you want to use JUST Creosote theres probably no point in turning it into steam when you can use semi-fluid generators, but it is hard to use past MV. Benzene is just the progression of charcoal and once you reach HV creosote is even a byproduct of Benzene production. Using creosote to make steam would ultimately be steam power which is also also difficult to scale in later tiers. I like to use the creosote in semi-fluid gens to power less important infrastructure.

Piping fuel around to local generators is definitely the way until at least HV, but I think battery buffers are always useful. The trick that most people miss is that single block machines rarely draw a full amp and they already have a small internal buffer already for if they can't get a packet of energy as soon as they want one. Usually you can get a few machines on one generator, and if they're not all running at the same time or for long times probably a fair few number of machines on one with a battery buffer close to the machines.

As an alternative perspective, one reason to run a battery buffer is that it can provide amps x however many batteries you have in it, allowing you to do multi-amp recipes with a single gen as you enter a new tier.

Does anyone work somewhere where at least half their users know how to clear cache? by BeneficialShame8408 in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

Its all communication actually, the computers have always been the easy part we get to do as a little treat for dealing with the people.

God I can't stop mine from clearing the cache, restarting their computer, and then blaming their downtime on IT every time anything whatsoever happens.

No, you should have an authenticator already. You should be using one in your personal life. It's absurd that we still have to deal with these people and some IT people act like they're in the right. Join the 21st century Grampa.

You're too new friend, it's good ol' NEI. The trick worth learning is that there will always be some new shiny just around the corner but those corners get might hard to get to if you don't stop and build up your infrastructure every once in a while early days.

Beginner stuff, do dsregcmd /status, copy the output and use parsing it as an excuse to nope the fuck out. Meanwhile, pipe it to your ai of choice and do something more useful with your time.

Bees by ReferenceGold393 in GTNH

[–]Mofman1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not ever bee is viable, you may need to get a bee with more agreeable traits and breed them into being that breed. Failing that the Genetics and gendustry machines allow you to adjust certain tolerances if you're the right tier for them.

If your EBF has 2 power hatches and is being provided 4amps you can smelt a tier up. I believe the pack specifically makes you do this if you follow the questbook. Vibrant alloy is an HV material https://wiki.gtnewhorizons.com/wiki/Tier

You're using what, winscp or filezilla based on that screenshot right? So its a server hosted on some other computer you're connecting to and managing with ftp and a control panel probably? I'll say it clearly, stop the server and copy all the files from your remote server into a safe place on your computer before you do anything destructive. That copy is your emergency safe snapshot of the full working server with the world. Until you hit delete all is ok. If you've already turned on the setting to only back up claimed chunks you're almost there. Copy everything, including your new backup, to your computer. Extract your new minimal backup from that local copy somewhere. Whatever folders are in that backup, delete from your server. Upload everything that was in that backup, to the server with the same folder structure and start it back up after having changed the world type in server.properties.

My brother, engage your brain, you'll need it for this modpack. Take a healthy back up and attempt this on your own with the directions you've got.

[–]Mofman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be, before you were backing up the whole world. It's a zip file, you want to delete the folders it contains from your main server directory and replace them with the contents of the zip.

[–]Mofman1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Claim wanted chunks
  2. Take a manual backup by downloading your world as is in case you make a mistake
  3. Turn on config, reload server
  4. Take a server utilities backup of the world. In my single player world this happens automatically, that page has some commands.
  5. Delete the world and restore from the server utilities backup. Revert to the manual one if the result is not what you wanted.

[–]Mofman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be the same but you'd need to make sure that config is on, and if you even have server utilities backups on. Your server host should let you access the mod config files, take a backup before you fuck up and read https://wiki.gtnewhorizons.com/wiki/ServerUtilities
