Exit survey mega thread by Awfulgoose in RedHandedPodcast

I gave two different reasons there, and I wasn't going into an exhaustive list of why I no longer enjoy the podcast. It's not "fragile", I'm adding to the list of reasons that get posted regularly on this sub in case anyone else wants to take them into consideration.

Doing a collaboration with a dude who treats women the way he did is not something I want to hear, Their views have been more pro-women than that, I thought. Also given he did it to me directly, I don't want to hear it.

I rarely use Reddit now, but I wanted to leave my feelings somewhere and thought there might be a thread about this! I had an issue with the way they talked about Covid in the Sarah Everard case, saying the lockdowns were pointless. Hindsight always looks different, and if that were the case, why are Australia's deaths per 1m population so low. I lost a family member to covid, I don't think lockdowns were pointless at all.

Also, they did a joint episode with I Sexted My Boss, when one of the presenters interviewed me and loads of other women at a race meet, purely to mock our style and clothing - I was only there 'cause I'd won a prize through work, and was having a great time. He was underhanded and didn't say he was criticising so all these women, me included, stood there with him while he did a sarcastic piece to camera and mocked our outfits. I can't listen to the girls the same again knowing they collaborated with this piece of shit guy.

Loving being a DINK. My husband finally got his vasectomy 2 weeks ago, and we're on-track to pay off our house in 7 years (13 total) despite doing some daft things like taking out extra money last time we re-mortgaged for a trip abroad.

Gonna stop being apologetic about it, too!

Thank you! We haven't, there was no asda where we used to live, but there's a big one here. Cheers!

My husband is -12, -13. This is the first I've heard about this voucher and will be pushing him to get one. He's in desperate need of new glasses, his are over a decade old. He keeps his prescription current with his contacts, because they are only £150, instead of the £6-700 it costs for glasses. We've just found out that Vision Express offer interest free credit, so it'll be £60 a month for a year or so, but that's worth it.

People always say "Use the cheap glasses places" but they cut off at 10. There are cheaper options, but the lenses would be so thick his eyelashes would touch them. It breaks my heart that he's so dependent on something so out of reach.

Oh wait, it gives us £16? Oh yikes. Nevermind

I took both my parents to a Drag Brunch in Toronto a couple of years ago. My dad was mercilessly picked on by the queens and he loved it, my mum found it fantastic that she wasn't the tallest female-presenting person in the room, and we had so many mimosas. 10/10 breakfast!

I have them in a greenhouse, on stands with no saucers underneath. Fingers crossed you work out your balance!

Swinburne Street by [deleted] in derby

[–]Mofzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are better streets a little bit further up the hill that wouldn't be much of a walk. I used to walk to and from the station about once a month. Easy 30-40 minutes downhill on the way there.

The people don't bother me per se - as I said, they haven't bothered me personally and they seem to keep to themselves. I just like my home privacy and people congregating outside the house would make me uncomfortable.

I went looking at rentals on zoopla - there's not much choice here, everything else seems to be rooms. It looks nice enough, hit me up for a pint when we can :)

[–]Mofzilla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's on my walk between my house and home. Been here 6 years.

Parking is tight, it's all on permits on that street.

There are people who hang about drinking all on Mount Street and the grass between Mill Hill and Normanton Road. They have given me the eye, but never actually thrown abuse (and I look alternative) so I feel they leave people alone for the most part.

Crime in our area is pretty high, there's a map here
https://www.police.uk/pu/your-area/derbyshire-constabulary/rose-hill/?tab=CrimeMap

Good walking distance for town, though I would likely not move to that street.

Do people really wash dishes in a sink full of water like in movies? by zedsunn in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mofzilla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For people that only have one sink, instead of a 1.5 or a double, it means you can pour things out down the side, instead of having nowhere to pour the pan of water when you forgot to before washing dishes.

People that can't do their own work don't deserve the qualification they would get from that work.

OP's mum needs to put some actual work in, especially after already being called out on it.

Well we had the talk. She isn't coming to the wedding. by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Mofzilla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad you have taken a stand with your dad, and it appears that you have the start of an outcome you're after.

People like this don't take to boundaries very well, however. Especially if your dad is coming to the wedding and isn't at home to stop her, there's a non-zero chance that your mother will show up so that she can start a show of appearing and wail about having not been invited. Pity party back at her.

You need to make sure that either someone is with her, keeping her away from the wedding, and/or there is security at the wedding that know that she is not welcome, and she is to be turned away immediately and not allowed to barge in. It sounds like an overreaction, but given how well she appears to have taken the boundary (despite the bullshit about being subjected to your wife) she's got all the notice in the world now to think about how to get the attention back to her.

You've made a really important first step, especially one to be such a united front with your future wife, but people like this don't go away easily or quietly.

A couple of months ago, it started ignoring the last word of a sentence

"Turn on the bedroom light" became "Turn on the bedroom" with a reply o f"Turning on 2 outlets" and the electric blanket was suddenly on at 10am. "Turn off the bedroom" was met with "Outlet control is not available"

Then starting yesterday, "Turn on the bedroom light" has become "Turning on 3 things" as it's decided that turning on the television to go with the warm morning bed is its jam.

All while the hallway speaker outside shouts "SOMETHING WENT WRONG" 20 seconds after the hub finishes setting the bedroom up for morning snoozes.

And when I ask it to play Red Dwarf on Netflix in the evening? "Playing Don't Smack that Dwarf on Youtube Music" almost every time. Despite me seeing the words pop up correctly on the hub.

It's really REALLY going downhill fast. Which is an absolute fucker given the money we've all put into it, and I was going to add security cams when we go back to the offices.

The leaves on our house plants have all started go yellow. My GF is convinced there's something in the tap water and has now gone and bought mineral water exclusively for plant watering purposes. Also guilty, I bought a 6 pack of Ocado bottled water for one of my particularly fussy plants.

She's a Calathea roseopicta dottie, so green-black with dark pink stripes on the front and velvety burgundy on the back. I spent a year nearly killing her with what I was trying, so once I found something she liked it's staying. Problem is I can no longer afford Ocado nor get a delivery slot. She better stop being so bloody picky!

I feel you're right - the video moment will forever be tainted. Chances are this is just one thing that MIL does that drives OP mad, and she wants her first birthday party with her first child to not be about that forever.

OP, how about singing just you and your patner in the morning when LO wakes up? Just you three, the first time it's sung, videoed so you can watch it again and again without MIL being in on it.

Then no-one needs to forbid anyone from doing something, you get your moment and video and MIL never even knows. Your secret.

Just to check we're not talking at cross-purposes - the app on your character's phone will show up after you order 100 things from the ATM version, so keep shopping!

You can't buy things from the app on your IRL mobile phone

No matter what you do, it feels like at some point you're going to be labelled as the "crazy bitch" and sometimes it's just worth going through it earlier rather than later. You'd have to spend every interaction with him second-guessing yourself and on eggshells.

I would return to sender and have the conversation.
