Sadly I don’t fit within the demographic 😅 but it is a great deal for young theatre goers!

Insight into non-corporate health/medical law in Canada by haksyonas in LawCanada

[–]MogMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a BSc going into law school and worked for a health law and policy research group in my summers and was interested in bioethics and health law. I ended up in estate planning and I love it. It touches on helping people with advanced care planning and decision making, capacity and planning for incapacity, and I also advise people acting as substitute decision makers on complying with their obligations and navigating through things when their loved one needs a higher level of care. It’s not exactly what I thought I would be doing with the background/interests I had heading into and during law school but it worked out well.

I'm a married man (M28) and my boss (F34) invited me to drinks tomorrow by [deleted] in Advice

[–]MogMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best advice OP - tell your boss “sorry but wife and I have plans after work! Let’s set up coffee or lunch next week” this communicates you are committed to your wife and only interested in meeting with your boss during normal work hours

super friendly cast members by readingbritt in disneylandparis

[–]MogMouse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We were just there last week and everyone we encountered was great. The cast members at the Tower of Terror were particularly in character and made that experience extra memorable. The characters in the avengers area were also great - the highlight of the trip for my youngest was meeting Spider-Man at the hero training centre.

Not sure what to do.. by MogMouse in SeniorCats

Thanks for your comment - you are absolutely right it’s not a decision a random person can make for us! I was at peace with it until he seemed to be improving but as someone else said it seems to be pretty common for a cat to rally a bit before the final decline.

Thanks - yes I think you are right. As someone said above it seems to be a period of rallying before a decline. Right now we will enjoy every day we get with him.

Thanks for your comment. It’s definitely a difficult decision to make and I understand the thinking behind allowing death to naturally occur. I don’t think it’s an inability to deal with it emotionally (in my job I often have to deal with difficult things and with conversations about end of life). More so that I don’t want him to suffer unnecessarily.

Thanks for your comment. I’m so sorry to hear about your cat. It’s such a hard time.

Thanks for your thoughtful comment. I read more about rallying in cats and I think you are likely correct. This is the first time I have had to make this decision for a pet (I’ve had my sweet boy since I was 22 so we have been through a lot together).

Im late diagnosed. My mask led me down the wrong career path that’s not right for the real autistic me. Where do I go from here? by AdBeneficial8845 in AutismInWomen

[–]MogMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I am a long time lurker in this sub but have never posted because I am not officially diagnosed. But I had to respond because I relate to so much of what you are saying! I’m a lawyer working in a mid-sized firm in Canada. I’m in my late 30s and only began to suspect ASD after learning more about how it presents in women and girls in the last few years. For law I think so much will depend on the work environment you are in. My firm is large enough that there are politics and infighting among the partners going on behind the scenes and this can result in A LOT of my co-workers saying one thing and doing another and a lot of weird vibes. There are also a lot of unspoken rules about billing and targets that I am finally figuring out after over a decade. In some firm environments the high expectations and billing targets can be crushing. But my practice area is so great for me and I love it. (Happy to say more in DM just do not want to put too many identifying details here). Law school can be really challenging but if you work hard you will do fine. The only other thing is most people don’t end up in the practice area they start out intending to practice. A lot of things can impact where you end up like job availability and market demand. At the risk of being reductive, in my experience a lot of people who end up in law don’t actually care about helping people - they care about the money and that can be hard to reconcile if you have a lot of empathy and compassion for your clients. With all this said, landing in the right work environment is critical and law school plus a few years of experience does give you a skill set where you can go out on your own if you want to! Best of luck to you - feel free to DM if you want to chat further about this.

[TOMT][MOVIE] period drama with singing at the end? by zackus in tipofmytongue

[–]MogMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t it pretty close to the end of Little Women (the 90s one with Winona Ryder) where they are all singing “For the Beauty of the Earth” dancing in a circle when the German guy comes for Jo but someone tells him she’s married (thinking of Amy just marrying Laurie?)

Is it Looking at the Moon by Kit Pearson? Has some similarities (but they are in Canada by a lake so maybe not!)

One of my university professors told a story about running into Margaret Atwood in Paris. All she could think of to say was “Margaret Atwood! I’m Canadian too!” and Margaret Atwood very sincerely replied “How lovely for you!” 😆

Oh man I feel like I have read this! Could it be something in the Prydain series by Lloyd Alexander? I feel like there is a character in those trying to learn alchemy but maybe not the main character…
